Yeah, I also hated that when Apple bought Emagic, suddenly Logic stopped working on every PC.

Because that's what happened, right? :roll:

but why no upgrade? :?

I'm not asking to get it for free...

At least from me you would gain money by that... - it's not about the money - it's a thing of principle for me! :)

I dunno if I am alone with that opinion but even if I'm the only one expressing it I highly doubt that! ;-)

Try to imagine you were in my shoes...

Hey! Jens – I have to say you are missing the point’s’ that a lot of people are pointing out to you. In this thread you are coming across as a bit of prick – take a step back and think it out before typing anymore – is my 2 cents

Best regards,

Peter

Analog hardware (like a Boss Chorus pedal) doesn't have eproms or firmware.

Anyone who bought Logic for PC feels screwed over. That was nothing less than Apple trying to force PC users to switch to Apple. It backfired on them - and Cubase SX is far superior anyway. PC VST forever!

I personally don't care too much - but this behavior has changed my purchasing patterns. All I am saying is that SOME people don't like this sort of thing. If you happen to like buying sofware with no future, go ahead and buy it.

Companies make bad marketing decisions all the time, and survive. I believe both Voxengo and Kjaerhus could have won more loyalty, and more MONEY, from me (and others) had they just offered an upgrade path. That's all.

I don't just buy software - I buy upgrade paths.

Way to go! :hail: How did you manage to get that past the auto-censor? :shock: It's the most intrigueing aspect about this whole thread apart form the update news, of course.

and what about all those numerous revisions of any of the bread and butter compressors out there. you're in for a war if you ask some of the engineers for their favourite LN1176 revision.

did you know behringer completely changed their designs about twice now. first they used to be pretty OKish (even had a 4 band analog multiband comp), then they completely changed and cheapened the power supply design. You can guess if this caused the infamous behringer sound.

as if revisions are any more comforting for the buyer. The standard Crybaby of today is NOT the original design that sounded so good.

I too was quite pissed when Kjaerhus released the GUP-1 without offering golden bundle owners the chance to upgrade. I mean, how would you guys feel if you bought the golden bundle, and then a more superior freebie was released from the same company? At least that is how I used to think about the situation.

But you know, even if that were the case... it's really nothing to get worried about. C'mon, people are dying all around the world from famine, disease, and cruelty. Babies are being raped in Africa to "cure" aids, and terrorists are destroying an antagonising our stupid f**king government officials. Wars are being fought in every corner, and I really doubt there is a peaceful place left on this Earth.

This really doesn't matter. Download a freebie that does what you want. Get Reaktor and make your own, get synth edit, hell, you can even get Synth Maker for free at the moment and make a fully working VST.

Jesus christ... life is for living and appreciating, not having pissing contests. Sure, principles are important, but sometimes you really do just have to let go.

Clutch it like a cornerstone. Otherwise it all comes down.
Justify denials and grip 'em to the lonesome end.
Saturn ascends, comes round again.
Saturn ascends, the one, the ten. Ignorant to the damage done.

Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper.

Let's you choose what you will not see and then
Drags you down like a stone or lifts you up again
Spits you out like a child, light and innocent.

Saturn comes back around. Lifts you up like a child or
Drags you down like a stone

Give away the stone.
Let the waters kiss and transmutate these leaden grudges into gold.
Let go.

While we're at it, let's throw in the fact that the latest Geforce 7800 is based on the same line that the extremely flawed 5800 is. it took them two full generations to fix it.

It's the same exact thing here: more R&D costs money.

Aleksey Vaneev wrote:We are pleased to announce the release of Voxengo Vintage Modulator 1.3 PC VST plug-in -- a massive modulation effects plug-in with a great sound and many features.

This update implements a new "Delay" parameter for additional control over modulation sound. "Wet Cut" parameter has been added as well, to control high frequency content of the "wet" modulated signal.

"OpPhasing" parameter has been introduced to allow control over phase relations between modulation voices: with this parameter it is possible to switch between the "original" spatial stereo modulation sound and mono modulation sound.

Those who intend to use Vintage Modulator with their favorite synth instruments may find the new "Latency Off" switch useful. This switch disables plug-in's "through time zero" functionality while at the same time reducing plug-in's latency down to zero, to allow for real-time use of the plug-in.

Vintage Modulator features:

* Vintage sound mode
* Through time zero design
* Factory presets
* "A-to-B" comparisons
* Mono-to-Stereo, Stereo-to-Stereo processing
* All sample rates supported
* 64-bit internal precision
* Native assembler DSP code

Vintage Modulator is available for purchase on-line for a ridiculously low price of USD 29.95. To obtain demo download and to get more information please visit the Voxengo website: http://www.voxengo.com
Just incase anyone missed what the thread is meant to be about ;)

And it is only $29.95

Peter

Hi Aleksey

The manual says
In->Mono - forces mixing of the incoming audio to mono.

F.Mono - forces processing of the left channel only.
but the feature list says
Mono-to-Stereo, Stereo-to-Stereo processing
If you force the incoming audio to mono, and/or use F.Mono, does this mean the output of VM is still truly mono? or does it make the mono signal become stereo because of the modulation

I'm looking for a modulation plugin that can output as Mono only

But I haven't tried the demo yet, will later today

the reason i ask is, most of the time i want modulation textures without stereo width

I think there's a Boss pedal that someone mentioned earlier - maybe they'll sell it to you...

:hihi:

You must have some mental condition, what do you do when you buy a car and they release a new model just after? Sue the manufacturer?

Get a grip, and a life. There's people with real life problems to deal with, and you c**ts can't stop whining that there's a bigger product available than the one you have, and that you'd have to pay for it.
In all honesty - I think I can say without equivocation that I agree completely with xRAVENx on this - and yes, I'm as surprised as anyone. Jens, you are way out of line.

Voxengo makes great products, and their prices are a scandelous bargain. Wasn't there a thread in the neighborhood about how Waves plugs overpriced? I remember Voxengo as among the first mentioned that provide a better product for a *much* cheaper price.

I didn't know the GUP-1 was a freebie.
