I want Kjaerhus GDE-1

I agree that Torben is well placed to make an extremely good delay. The Classic delay proves that, and the GMO-1 nearly is a brilliant delay too.
There are TOO MANY delays that are only capable of note-based host-tempo-sync'd delay times. That's ok for newbie stuff, but it is very UNPROFESSIONAL for serious work.
A professional delay should allow each channel to be adjusted down to 1/10ths of a millisecond. That would allow Haas panning and phase alignment and other good things.
I am very much in favour of 8 segment LED type delay time displays. If each segment was independatly scrollable, that would allow any delay time to be quickly set. The option to selection note values as well is necessary - but you need to be able to tweak these values up or down.
Modulation of delays is a very cool effect - and GM0-1 is nearly the business. It just suffers from a lack of being able to finely adjust the delay time (to the millisecond, or 1/10th millisecond).
It's possible to correct Kjaerus effects with the Voxengo delay plugins for fine adjustment, but that's a workaround. I would buy a better delay effect.

I couldn't name a single one which doesn't allow to set the delay time specifically off the top of my head.greendoor wrote:There are TOO MANY delays that are only capable of note-based host-tempo-sync'd delay times. That's ok for newbie stuff, but it is very UNPROFESSIONAL for serious work.
In some cases it might be a little difficult to set the delay time down to the millisecond at least.
btw - I don't really understand why you want to use a delay for something like Haas panning (now that i read up on what it is
Cheers, Jo

I like this feature set, and to that I would only want to add a "drive" function that you can use to saturate the tape or add some distortion to the delay. that would be good stuff.Funkybot wrote:How about a feature set wishlist guys?
Here are mine:
4 independent delay lines with controls for:
Type: (analog, tape, digital)
Delay Time, Feedback, Tone, Quality, Pan, Mix, with syncable LFO's attached to the delay time. Throw the filters from Classic Auto Filter in the delay line, with syncable LFO's for these as well. I would also ideally want a global mix parameter on top of the ones for the independent lines.
The digital and analog/tape delays should sound different when modulating the delay time. I'd want the wierd pitchshift w/ a digital grind when modulating the delay time on the digital model (like I said above, or check out the Boss DD-1 stompbox), whereas I'd want the slinky dub kind of pitch fun with the analog and tape models. I would also of course want the ability for seemingly never ending delays, not all delays do this.
This would (in my mind at least) would be an amazing classic delay/autofilter hybrid on mescaline. This would be my ideal Golden Delay. So here's for free R&D...BTW, Torben, I'm just being picky, don't start pulling hair out or anything.

For one-delay-to-rule-them-all I'd like a plug that put me close to the type of sounds I want - one day dub delay, another day trance delay, another day delay doubler thickening, another day The Edge delay, and so on.
I'd like a musical delay.
What I don't want is a 12x12 button matrix DIY kit that does everything. I always find I f**k up by pressing one button too many and losing the good idea I had
There are plenty of delays like these already.
I couldn't have put this better - thanxthere are a few good ones out there, e.g. Retro Delay, Trimmetry Tapper, the Kjaerhus Classic Delay and the Analogflux Delay - however none of them is for me the real deal

I'm along those same lines also. So the Logic's Stereo Delay would be cool, but with much better sound and tape/analog/digital mode switch.
That would be simple and versatile enough to handle most of the jobs you throw at it.

when Torben developed GCO-1 he started a thread in which he asked something like: 'what is important to you in a compressor, what should it have in any case, what are you missing in other software?'
He then made imo the best available vst-compressor - it has got more options and parameters than most if not all but is still easy to use because these parameters are implemented in a way so that you don't have to use them at all and they don't get in your way if you don't need them but they're still there and easy to handle. That makes GCO-1 so flexible and the sound is always ace. So whatever you might want to use a compressor for and however easy or sophisticated you want the tweaking to be you can use GCO-1 for the task with the security of having a great sound at a low cpu-consumption (and also no delay) - and that makes it almost perfect.
And the price is o.k. as well for how good it is.
I want these virtues in a delay-plugin!

(in other words: if it would become reality then we should let Torben do the job of deciding how to arrange/layout everything because I think he can do a much better job than Emagic or whoever

This thread seems interesting. I did not imagine there would be much interest in a delay plugin after all those recently released. But if people are still interested when we are finished with the projects we are buried in pt. it will be considered.
Thank you for the confidence you all are showing us.
