Oh my. At least you're in the right place. Your question indicates that you really have no idea just how much stuff is out there. FL5 is a good host, don't let anyone harass you for calling it fruity loops. As for generators and plugs (VSTi instruments and VST effects), there are many, at every price range; some free; many for a really low price.juicyray wrote:Hi im new to this and im using fruity loops 5, does anyone know any other vst generators and plugs i should get for better manipulation of sound?
I don't know what style of music you want to do, so here's a start:
Free
Green Oak Crystal,
Everything by Novakill,
sfz
sampletank free
minimogue and arppe2600va
Free FX
LFX-1310
Everything by Betabugs
The "Classic" Kjaerhaus stuff
Get out of "Free" and into "Reasonable" and the whole world opens up. Discover Wusik -- very versatile, works really well in FL. There are hundreds, thousands maybe. There are even plugins that don't appear on KVR, if you can believe that.

One thing I would say, having been a complete newbie to this at the start of the year, is just get a few of the plugins and learn to use them. I got hundreds of the free ones, and now 95% of them just litter my hard drive. The ones that come with FL studio are good, easy to use and don't take up much cpu power either.
Check out http://www.smartelectronix.com/ . I have a lot of the mda ones, the Piano and epiano are good ones.
also blockfish is superb, and have a look at the other ones from digitalfishphones, especially endorphin http://www.kvraudio.com/get/861.html

Congrats, juicyray, you've found the best electronic music site on the internet, bar none. There's a ton of free, and terrific, stuff out today. It's an audio experimenter's "golden hayday."
Some of my personal favorites are TriangleI, TriangleII, FreeAlpha, ODO's PURPLE, MiniMogueVA, AUGER, ASynth, Superwave P8, the MDA pianos, the MrRay stuff. In the upper right corner of this page just click on the "Quick links are hidden button" and then click on instruments, effects, developers and surf forever. I have several hundred in my system, so that's a lot to test, so take time to make some music occasionally - just to stay in practice.
