hello there,
I was available with GRM TOOLS Native and ST but no longer. Seems little too expensive for me to get own license so now I am after similar tools in free and lowcost sectors.

Doppler, Delay, Reson etc. are all great tools but really I dont like to spend 600euros for those.

Also other sound manipulating VST's are very interesting and I am sure there is alternatives out there!

You don't really have an alternative in terms of usability, paramater morphing etc. - there is a reason they cost what they do... Of course there are other plugins that do something like GRM Tools, but you wont find the same intuitive interface anywhere else imo...

Have a look at Oli Larkin's site for something similarish to Doppler. There's a free plugin a bit like Reson but with 88 bands rather than 128 cant remember the name offhand (something88), but Oli's Dronebox might be useful as well; . Do a search for Spectral Monkeyage here (the original download is gone, but there's a Yahoo group still has it) for something which can do things similarish to Freeze and Pitch Accum. Have a look at the SmartElectronix site for one or two things which cover the same sort of ground as Shuffling. There are plenty of delays out there.
Most of these are free, although without the parameter morphing. You could use multiple copies inside eXT for more control/routing options to get some of that control back...

Alternately, you might find Reaktor ensembles which can do similar jobs to some of them, eg to Shuffling.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

thanks - i will look these out.
dont use reason (only have cubase sx2, audition 1.5 and some other stuff as hosts)...

how about morphing tools? I am getting deeper and deeper - I have some but want to perspective here.

does they bundle GRM tools with some nice gadget?

Most of these are free, although without the parameter morphing.
Try the Metasurface in AudioMulch : same principle but a lot of more powerful !
And it works with all plugins, even with Bidule now ;-)

i'd recommend pluggo, as it gives you access to all of those types of sounds...comb filters, freezer (a free plugin called "icy" can be used for this with the pluggo runtime), although GRM are unique in the control that they offer. Also I'm not familiar with PC, so maybe there's other alternatives if you're not on mac....

Macomate88 is the plugin to which whyterabbit refers. I've never tried GRM tools, but it's a useful effect.
