Hi Folks,
I'm new to computer recording. I have T2 and am using an M-Audio Delta 1010LT soundcard. I have had success recording from an analog source but I can't get a midi signal into Tracktion. I turned off local and set it to midi on my Kurzweil PC88 but the sequencer doesn't seem to recognize it.
I suppose I am not setting the keyboard up correctly.
Any help would be appreciated.

At the left there should be a midi keyboard icon. You should drag that to a track, so they are connected. Done that?

I right clicked on the track at the left and it gave me the list of input choices. I chose "Delta 1010 Midi." There was no "midi icon."

Allright, I went into options and unchecked 'per track view' for input devicesand the icons appeared. However, that didn't solve the problem.

Well, to get down to the basics, you must make sure you have a midi cable running from the "midi out" from the PC88 to the "midi in" on the Delta 1010, and make sure the PC88 is sending midi on the same channel that T2 is receiving midi.

By default, T should recognize "all" channels on an input device, but it doesn't hurt to check. P'raps you changed the channel at some point in time and forgot.
Also, ensure that "e-to-e" is enabled, though that should only make a difference for what you 'hear' and not what you record.
Now, another basic question: When you have your MIDI device pointed at an empty track and you plunk a key, do you see the meters move at all? If you see the meters move, it means that T IS receiving MIDI messages.
The next step would be to put a VSTi into the track and then see if IT is receiving MIDI. (again, it won't affect the actual ability to record, but if you have nothing to 'hear', it'll be tricky to do any recording!)

I definitely have the midi cables hooked up correctly to the ins and outs of the soundcard. E-to-e is enabled and the midi on the keyboard is set to Channel 1.
When I hit the keys on the PC88 I hear a piano note with extreme echo on it and Tracktion goes from the new edit screen back to the projects screen.

On your track, is it set to 'output' to an audio device? You definitely don't want it to output back to the PC88.
What VSTi is loaded into the track?

The Delta soundcard is set to default. However, there is sound coming into the keyboard headphones.
Presently, I have a VSTi loaded (an MDA piano)that came with T2. As of yet, I haven't gotten the authorization codes from IK Multimedia to unlock Sampletank and Amplitube.

That's fine-- in fact, it's even better than using something like Sampletank, because we know that it should work with simplicity and ease. I just wanted to make sure that if you're hearing an echoey piano, that you in fact have a piano loaded. <chuckle>
I wonder if your keyboard is sending more information than you'd ideally want it to? A Kurzweil is no cheap piece o' crap like what I was using, but I found with my consumer-grade keyboard that I had to filter out sysex and time clock messages with MIDI Ox.
Somehow, though, I don't honestly think that will help. It may, so I don't want to steer you "away" from it, but my first thought is that something else is still "up" other than message overload.
When you say "The Delta Soundcard is set to default", do you also mean that when you click on the track you're working on (the track itself, not the device or the clip... click on the name and the whole track will get highlighted), and look in the properties panel at the bottom, its destination output is "Default Audio Device"?

Well, count me confused.
In the settings page, you will see a list of your MIDI devices. Make sure that your 1010 MIDI device (at least the input part) is enabled. That's it.
Then it'll appear in your edit page, either as a pointer, or depending on your input mode, as an option in your pull-down menu.
You won't be able to trouble-shoot well from the settings page. Most of those settings are available from the edit page, by clicking on the device's input icon. If you're not getting an icon at all, and have no ability to 'enable' the device in the settings page, then the driver needs to be re-installed.

The Delta 1010 definitely shows up as the input on the track when I assign that to it. I think I must be overlooking something on the keyboard.
