the akai may not be available...you better check on that.... Adobe Audition has pitch correction which is fair...but I also have Antares Auto-Tune 4 (not used on a project yet) and I am very impressed with it...;)

Yes, Audition's correction is not to be overlooked. I found manual mode to be a bit fiddly, but at least it did a job.

I will keep the first post up-to-date as people add more, so I have added Audition's correction. I didn't even know it had one !! lol :D

Any more opinions / plugins ?
Does samplitude also have one built in ? I think it might ... :D
I'll also add Sonar's new one :D

I didn't check, but did they say they still had decabuddy? Numark aquired Akai in August of 04, since then much of their vsts seem to have been dropped....anyhow tbh I think the antares is worth the money...especially if your host allows for midi to be routed into the fx.....then it will follow a midi score for correction...;)

edit...it does say deca is there so again I would check it out...I have been following the saga of devabuddy since last december...

I will admit that I like Autotune, however I don't like it's price and the iLok protection. Just running the demo and my entire PC gets way more unstable and clicks start appearing in playback. I uninstall and everything is fine.

It's really silly I think, the Steinberg dongle is extremely stable and can't be cracked easily at all. In the meantime, the iLok is extremely unstable and all software that runs on it has been cracked lol ... I think everyone should switch to Syncrosoft ! :D

ILok renders also my machine flaky and unstable...and I thought I was the only one...NOT!

I freaking love melodyne. Just went thru this process. I already owned the powercore one, Intonator, and also OB-Tune, which is a stripped-down antares thing. I demo'd antares, and could live with it. I demo'd melodyne, and it sounded terrible. Nonetheless, on advice from folks here, I bought it, and found that the sound problems in the editor playback disappear once you get the audio back into your regular sequencer.

It's amazing software. Certainly the best plugin I've bought this year.

How does it sound if you ReWire to your Host?

Post

I have heard that it still sounds bad when rewired. I had seen a discussion on this topic in another thread I believe. Have you folks tried sending Celemony a report of this ? To see what they say ?

How can you make proper adjustments if the preview sounds terrible ?

Have you tried using the DirectX driver instead of ASIO ?

- "Horrible" is too strong. It sounds like it's been high-passed and 'excited,' in a bad way. Perfectly fine for doing pitch or tempo manipulation, just wouldn't want to do eq adjustments based on it.

- While working in rewire, you hear the melodyne playback engine. Once you save, you mute the rewire channel and the melodyne changes are applied to your existing audio. I'm saying that poorly, but you know what I mean; while working, you mute your audio track and listen to the rewire track, then once you're done you save and unmute the audio track again.

None of which is imply that I've got rewire working right. But that's SX3 more than melodyne, and I haven't tried that hard.

I agree, to me Melodyne trashes sound to the point where it is no longer sutable for a high quality production. Would be interested to see shotout here, yet.

Post

If you haven't done so, you need to hear melodyne tracks after they've been processed and brought back into your sequencer. That trash sound is gone. Really.
