Just wondering how everyone else feels about the different aspects of making music. Some people hate dealing with the recording engineering aspect and wishes that someone else could do it for them instead, and some people don't mind tweaking the mix, effects, and fine-tuning the mastering. Some people only like composing, and would rather have someone else do the arrangement/orchestration, while some loves arranging/orchestrating, and find composing to be frustrating. Some people love playing instruments more than composing, and some people are better at composing than playing instruments. What about you?

I personally enjoy just about every step of the process, and even when things are frustrating, it's still fun. But if I have to name one thing I really don't enjoy, it's the technical troubleshooting of software/hardware problems, organizing samples, wasting time auditioning hundreds of presets to find the sound I need..etc.

I suppose, personally, I thrive on the creating of song. The mix can go this way or that (and it does because of my meagre patience), but because I tend to create pop material, my aim is to create tunes which could be played on completely different instruments, even without all the effects and samples and compression and eq boosts, and still carry a message and remain entertaining.

The red light's on, the "tape" is rolling and I'm into take #5 , 10 , 80 (whatever), and while I'm playing I realize that I've finally nailed the part and have it just how I wanted it. (It doesn't happen often)

the part i enjoy the most occurs when songwriting. specifically, its the time between when i know im finally really on to something and i know i'll finish it, up through the final arranging and mixing. (im not as excited by mastering.)

that is my favorite time because i complete so few songs. when i feel the creativity is seriously flowing and its all coming together, and i've actually got a complete song to listen to, im thrilled.

The part when it's all in my head, when it all sounds great -- before I try to capture it on the computer and get side-tracked and can't get the right sound and forget how that bass was supposed to go and decide it sounds crummy this way and... :-S Gah.
