My favorite part is that fine line I seldom cross, where fooling around actually begins to take shape of something I feel driven to finish.

Living in it

seconded! ( even though luckily not too seldom here b.t.w.) :-D

My favorite part is when I finally get to the point where I can say that something is finished. I love listening to the things I make. That's why I make them. If someone else would just get around to writing all the songs I want to hear in my head, they could really save me alot of effort.

Sometimes getting things to sound just right can be like pulling teeth so I really love when I finally get what I'm looking for and can listen to it. It's just an extreme moment of pride that I was able to take some half formed idea about something in my life and express it in sound. That's what I like most.

the freedom inherent in the music making world of today.
ie the being able to work with musicains from the other side of the world,or even just to hear music made by other people in the same situation on the other side of the world.
the access to virtually any sound you can think of and then the anility to do anything you want to that sound.
and recently the studio engineering for live bands and being able to boss musicians about
:ud:

None of it! :D But if I had to choose the most agonizing process that usually takes longer to do than writing the song is, MIXING!

I do too, and while listening I'm reliving the process of creating it. (even if I grimace when I notice that my vocal has gone off key)

I most enjoy making music when I can feel a sense of progress or growth in any facet of the process.

all the best moments of music i remember are in hindsight; while i'm at it (more like IN it) i don't recognise anything else - no consciousness, no self-reflection, it's like being in a trance. that's the best for me when i look back later on; you know that moment where you just kinda snap out of it and say "whoa! what happened?" ;)

I can't say that I really enjoy much of it at all. Its mostly that I need somethign to play when we're on stage because its performing live that I really enjoy. everything else is just necessary hard work to make that happen. I've never really been interested in recording or having my songs lying around or anything like that. I estimate that there are probably 20 or more of my songs that were easily good enough to be on an album that I have absolutely no record of anymore. Stuff that was on QuickDisks or Ensoniq-formatted Zip-Disks that I eventually just chucked out. If I don't want or need it for a live show any more, it ceases to have any value to me.

making a melody is my favourite part i think. which is a shame, since the kind of music i like usually doesnt have a melody. hmm
blasphemy is a victimless crime

The moment before you make music is the best of all, I mean the excitement that mabey this time you'll nail it down or the hope of mabey just mabey you'll make a song that will not only sound good a few days after playing it but will endure the true test and sound good months or years after you make it, yeah thats my best moment about this whole thing we label song making. That tiny moment is so fking amazing to me its when I have just the right amount of hydro or haze in my system then i begin to think hey its song creation time and I hope and pray my mood dosent turn for the worse and the whole song writing concept becomes more work than fun, thats whats so great about this stuff. you just never know and thats what keeps me comming back for more.

the coffee next to my midi controller..and the tweaking. :D
be part of the solution, not the problem

Favorite part is when I finally burn the first CD to listen to on the drive to work... it's usually a sonic mess, but I love it! because it's at that point, I know that I will definately finish it.. and not abandon it like the numerous other half baked ideas I have sitting on my drive. :bang: :D
