Hi,

It appears that I want to support more and more the cause of little companies who make a living of their plugins developpement by buying good and supported plugins instead of using free and less or more reliable tools. That way, I found out and bought Tracktion months ago. What's more, as a developper myself, I am not fine with piracy.

BTW I have read on some anti-piracy site that you can find good plugins on the whole prices range.

This is wrong. I am searching for a good compressor and good EQ to treat voices or a good all-in-one bundle for approx. 200 euros.

On most site, it's hardly below 400$ and even more expensive if you are an EU resident because of impressive VAT rate!

It looks like the small companies have understood that they can make big profits by selling their products at a very high price (for a simple amateur like me). e.g: Nomad Factory. Their Blues Tubes bundle has evolved from 156€ to 499$ !! No alternative. OK, more plugins in it but a light version would be appreciated. In shop, it's 400 euros. Hmm. It's a serious amount of money for an amateur even if they make you think you have a Fairchild compressor in your sequencer.

I would be ready to buy a bundle for 200 euros because I am low on budget and can't afford more. But the results are always the same. 400 euros or die.

Someone can help or give me advices? I have crawled into the forums for the last past week and I am now even more questionning myself!

Luxonix LX-1310 is a very good free multi fx unit.

For a good vocal channel strip look no further than Voxengo's Voxformer at $59 http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1004.html

GAC-1 is another great vocal strip at $198

Try them out, and see if they don't get the job done

Kjaerhus's GCO-1 and GEQ-7 combined fall in roughly at 200 Euro.

For some interesting and fairly inexpensive compressors, check out the buzzroom stuff. You're right, though, it is both odd and incredible that compressors and EQs tend to be the most expensive things out there.

I originally bought it for the EQ and multiband compressor, but the reverb and modulator impressed me as well. (I haven't tried the other effects too much yet.) It's available as a download and on CD.

I hate to do advertisment for myself, but maybe you should have a look at the posihfopit (clones) as an EQ. Especially 'Electri-Q' is the commercial EQ, offering nearly everything you'll need.

That's what i was going to say :
as an eq , choose Posihfopit (or Electri-Q), it will worth the money. You can also want to choose the donationware Nyquist, very intuitive but less presices. I want free freehand draw eq, take SlimSlowSlider.

As compressor, take buzroom and look no further ! for 50$ or so, it will really worth the money !!
There is also a free bundle where you can see the quality.

LFx1300 is really good t, as stated above, as an everyday use multiefx.

I haven't seen none of these sites before you gave the links

and it looks like they are what I am searching for. Now I will check the specs to find my prefered and I'll keep you up.

Electri-Q as you want to support the dev, VERY good. Compressor is way harder me thinks. I also recommend to check out the Kjaerhus, Voxengo and Sonalksis stuff.

Well, after an afternoon of tests with my own audio datas and vocals, I've ordered two plugins:

- Voxengo VoxFormer
- Sonitus:fx Parametric EQ

VoxFormer is really impressive. My mic is a Rode NT1A and the plugin is for sure EXACTLY what I was searching for. All-in-one to treat vocal and I have even be surprised by the efficient gate.

I have released very nice treatments on some of my vocals.

Sonitus:FX is just a simple but very good parametric EQ. By seeing the link above to the Sonitus:FX suite, I remembered that I read a review on them in a magazine. I re-read it and made my decision because I have no general-purpose EQ plugins except the one from Tracktion that I don't really like.

I look forward to buy Buzcomp CL but I will test it a little more because while being amazingly transparent, I think it's a bit "cold". Maybe it's just up to my bad settings. (plus I've already the Mackie Compressor and Final Mix bundled with Tracktion 2)

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help. I will also check the links above.

Another thumbs up for Kjaerhus' Gold series from me too. If you want a voice treatment, GAC1 is hard to beat, and as mentioned - GEQ7 is a good Eq combined with one of several comp/limiters that Kjaerhus sell separately. GUP1 is great for sidechain useage, GCO1 is a more flexible comp with a tasty sound but no sidechain yet, and GPP1 can be used for some normal duties too. They all have a sound that compare favourably with decent hardware too.

Also, if you're looking around the $200 mark there's always QuantumFX from DB Audio (not sure of the exact price, but I think it's still around $200?). It's a fully modular FX suite with heaps of potential and a good bunch of presets already. You can chain up multiband comps, Eqs, De-essers etc (sidechain implementation is the best out there yet for s/w) great for voice treatment - or anything else, in fact. Ducking delays, multi-filtered delays, warm overdrives, and anything your imagination and available time can create. Might be a better solution than buying several separate plugins - I rarely d/l FX nowadays, simply because QFX can do most of whatever other ones do.

Also I'd second the Luxonix recommendation - a great freebie multiFX (3FX) in the same vein as some of the old h/w multiFX boxes.
