When I was younger I used to be in doubt. These days I'm not so sure.

that's so obvious that it doesn't deserve to be mentioned -

actually armin has made some bad ass tunes in his day, but is still very over-rated

Nirvana changed the time and is not overrated at all. My guess - most of all big names from 60s and 70s with Beatles on the top. Reason - less competition.

How much would you have to like them not to think they were overrated?! They are rated as gods almost, and their music falls way short of that (not suprisingly).
I like some of their songs, A day in the life, Elanor Rigby, Yesterday and probrably a few others I cant remember right now. But taken as a whole I dont rate most of their stuff. Which means I think on average they are just a good band.

Alot of it comes down to personal opinion. somepeople may like a few of their tracks others may like most of them, but does anybody really, honestly think they deserve all the rating they get 100% or even nearly??
Its about the gap between actual displayed talent and god like rating they get.

For the record, I also dont think they changed music that much, thinking of what else was around back then I cant see that they made that much difference to the general path of music evolution (really). Same goes for anyone else, Kraftwerk, Derrick May, Nirvarna, Sex pistols etc music just wouldnt of been that different without them. The time was right for their sort of music, it would of happened in a roundabout way anyway.

To show I can take it as well, I like Aphex, Boards of Canada and Squarepusher but can see that they are probably overated too, by some. But the Beatles have to be THE most overrated group ever! Although Ringo may possibly be the best Narrator EVER for what he did on Thomas the Tank engine, so maybe he does actually have god like qualities.

+1 for beatles being overrated
The following statement is true.
The previous statement is false.

I totally disagree.
He's got a special timing which suited their songs just perfectly.

Apart from that, I don't find Radiohead overrated either. IMO "OK computer" is one of the best albums in my collection and one of the best of the last decade as well (and I got it quite before the hype started).

OK, it all depends on your definition of "overrated"..
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

Anybody who ever had a major record deal is overrated.

(I'm joking of course)

I pretty much agree with the list and only grudgingly agree with the Radiohead entry, since people prefer that album to the superior The Bends album.
