But since I don't understand how to use Fruity Slicer or BeatSlicer, I will have to resurrect pHATmatik Pro which can give great results but is completely unpredictable.

What do you mean? I've been using pHATmatik PRO a lot since I switched back to PC for music-making (There, I said it.) and I haven't had any trouble. Please e-mail me if there are bugs to be fixed.

And there is no way I know of to export the audio slices from PPro.

You can just drag the slices anywhere: another sampler, windows explorer, etc. (hold down alt, it's fun!)

This month's theme is great... I will be borrowing heavily from my hero, utm. Sadly, I never got around to posting my cover of Hugo Montenegro's 'Moog Power' last month. (But during my search for material for last months exposition, I did find a vinyl of Walter Carlos' 'Switched-On Bach' *factory sealed* in a very dusty room at the local record store.)

Best,

Art
Thanks Art! Returned to PC eh! Welcome back dude! I am really glad to hear it.

I don't mean that there are bugs in PPro except I wish that the transpose activation switch could be kept off auto permanently if desired. I meant my inability to get a directed result using sliced loops. I never get what I aim for.

Ok Alt drag. Oops that's in the manual isn't it  It work even in FruityLoops.

I know I am whinging like a jerk. I ma pissed at myself for not being able to use audio better.

Remember your whinging before the found-sound/microphone theme contest? And then you created the excellent "ReelIn"?

This is pretty much the same thing, except you get your found sounds from other people's tracks instead of a microphone.

And then you make a spooky, ominous, scary, Halloweeny-mood piece.

We all know you can do this. :P

I like the theme. One minute is pretty short, though...

btw: Birrbits, your song has five seconds of silence at the end, pushing it to 1:05. Maybe you need to edit your entry a little?
Cool sounds, though. I liked it.

What the hell, I might give this a try. Getting loads of songs on 56k will be a pain, so I'll just get a few random entries.

Also, how much can we deform the audio? I mean, you wouldn't be allowed to sample part of a track, speed it up 3000 times and use it as an oscillator would you?

That's part of my plan. As long as your 'seed' is from a previous entry. I haven't started yet, but all of my ideas so far has not left anything recognizeable from the originals...
(I lie. I have another idea now. This theme is giving me a zillion ideas.)

Thanks Markleford. ReelIn was a weird experiment for me and was the last time I messed with audio. It's that I am really uncomfortable working with audio in any of my hosts - even those that are audio-oriented (Live, Sonar and Tracktion). I need a whole week of tutorials from UTM on comping with audio. I may try to get midi from people, but I suppose I canlearn a bit by just banging my head on this one for a while. Thankfully I know a bit how to use pHATMatikPro.

OK off to the graveyard.

Best,
Gordon

i don't get if we are expected to wait for requests from other users to provide parts of our previous entries, or if we are asked to spontaneously provide bits and pieces of our own corpses for the mangling pleasure of others?

I just posted one, to help the place to grow.

Could you put the naked vocal part of your fantastic 'Maigron' entry in the graveyard? I'd love to have it on the ready in case I decide I need some vocals... :)

Great.

Credit where credit is due. I love the way you make that poem flow.

... and it is encoded at 192Kb/sec - when the rules state 128Kb/sec or less. :uhuhuh:
Time is an illusion - lunchtime doubly so.

It was my intent that the audio would be deformed as much as you like. It doesn't have to be recognizable in its final form.

A bit of both. I figured a few unsolicited donations will get the ball rolling early in the process, but also imagined there would be parts that others would want to specifically request.
