As some nice reviewers (thx, YOU tm and slartibartfast  ) of the september song contest recommended I did a sort of remake of this cheerful farewell-song for Bob Moog (added drums, more moogs and FX, vocals etc.).
You can check the old version in the "Rules and Submissions"September-Thread.

It has now grown into some bizarre (?) poptune, please check it out and let me know if u like it :)

Bob has gone - extended version

hey thommekk,

my contest review as i recall was somewhat indiscipherable for you, so i'll provide a more tangible account:

this is great - a syd barrett/donovan meets etienne charry carnival of airborne psyche played out in a hall of mirrors. sorry, i'm still not being very clear. basically the fun slant skewed through nursery foreboding of this track is a real delight for me, the almost obsessive lyrical repetitons aid this enormously like someone trying to hold onto a departing reality as a means of keeping it together -wonderful :)

my original review still stands (in all ts pretension):
knockman wrote:thomekk charming, vibrant, inviting. stepping stones lead across a mirrored world of sky and water, offering shimmering passage through an elemental interface, simultaneously we peer into two worlds alive with the buzzing electrical energies of creation.

Hi, thomekk!

This song remembers me the ones they used to play in the discos I used to go when was younger (or just young). The real intention was make you out from there. In any sense is like you're playing and the teacher says you is time to enter to the classroom again. Knockman is right, it has an Sid Barret feel in it, plus the psychedelia of "All You Need Is Love".
Great song

I wasn't expecting that! Wonderful suprise it was!

I Agree with all the above (well, I never went to a disco )

Cool piece, thomekk!

thommekk,

You have taken this in a different (and better) direction than I had envisaged when I made my original suggestions. This has some great quirky sounds and the track twists and turns in surprising, and effective ways. Great stuff.
Time is an illusion - lunchtime doubly so.

This Rocks! I love it. :hail:

You haven't ever listened to The Bonzo Dog Band have you?

Brilliant.

I was thinking more Sid Barrett.....still great whatever the influence behind it :D
RIP Black Tom and Beckett. They weren't just cats, they were MY cats, the best cats ever.

Definitely Syd Barrett, but he was already mentioned and I thought along those lines, the wacky arrangement and deadpan humor made me think of BDB - not that the sound was identical. Just the spirit. :)

On the technical side, I do think it could be shortened by a few measures (it gets slightly repetitious near the end) and the fade out could be smoother. Maybe fade out a lot sooner and fade back in and then out again. That's one of those funny indulgent psychedelia tricks...

Yeah, I've just noticed the first Barrett reference. I just saw your reply as I was listening, and posted straight away.

knockman, thank you so much! :D
I'm sorry for my stupid germanish speakerish state not getting all of your fine lyrical elaborations down to the bones (oops, I hope I form the right words - my dictionary is not far away, but I'm too lazy to look up every expression I form :hihi: ,
and I could not find "indiscipherable")

And who is Etienne Chary? Anyways I'm very happy you like my approach here and thank you honestly for your review. For the song, I don't know where it came from, think I have to thank the contest to have legitimation to have started this. ...blubber...

Thank you very much, Diek! :)

I really hated school! The restraint to have go there. I'm sometimes obsessed in doing aggressive childish tunes, maybe it has something to do with it. :D
I don't know Syd Barrett-Tunes well (heard them & liked them afterwards - years ago; was socialized with "Dark side of the moon" (laters).
Yeah, all you need is some childish hope, I hope :)
Naivity is a great value for me (does the word "naivity" exist?); there are enough places for cynism I guess.

Thank YOU for helping me into this direction! :)
Have to confess that http://www.WEEN.com are heroes for me. They are doing lots of quirky good songs. They are two - like Lennon/McCartney - I'm one and not so good at all.

One question I have - because unfortunately I didn't download your september-contribution fast enough to review - : I thought the "Adagio" was by Samuel Barber?
So he adapted it, as Arvo Pärth later on?

No, I don't know BDB, but heard of them.
There were some special anarchist-comedy troups in the beginning of the 70s I think, but I have only an idea on most of them. Same goes for Incredible String Band.
