Version 1 will still be a very basic version.moonlite wrote:hope it will have decent step recording
The most important thing is to create a good architecture / workflow.
Then we'll add on and work out things with next versions.

Sure!pljones wrote:Oh, and Jo -- I notice you said "Audio Sequencer". I take it that it will do MIDI excellently, as well?

Do you need money? Will be a pre-order period?
Glad to see that you are on the business again.

Whatever the sequencer will look like, make sure it has some sort of an internal synth/sampler a la Muzynth!
Loading a sample in Logic is a big old pain

and the sampler should have good saving options: (present samplers don't have enough)
- save samples into host project, (most important. only a handful of samplers support this)
- copy all used samples into song folder automatically when song is saved, (no sampler supports this afaik)
- copy all used samples into song folder manually (one click on one button/menu item),
- leave samples in their present directory.
also good sample browsing facilities: (same here)
- drag and drop a sample into the sampler, and you can start playing it on your midi keyboard straigth away, then drag'n'drop a new one to erase the last one and be abled to play that instead.
- automatic drum sample mapping (dropping multiple samples at once)
- right/left/double click in the sample browser to preview or/and load sample for auditioning by midi-kbd.
and as for step recording, just make sure you have the rest key, a key with "backspace" function, and move back/forward buttons near eachother. on most seq:s i try to map them asdf .. a is step back, s is step forward, d is backspace, f is rest.

Moonlite...
some of those features were already implemented in Muzys but I agree that the new host should make a point of having a sampler as good as the Muzys one.
Even Muzys 0.9 back in 2001 was better (ie faster and more flexible) at loading samples into a project than the one I'm using today.

if i kill the person who is currently hording the muzys code, then jo can start working on it again. we could have muzys back, and everything would be okay
