Limerick to be exact. I've just started the Masters in Music Technology program

Anyway, is anyone in or around Limerick? I've quickly learned that Limerick isn't exactly the music mecca of the world, except for the traditional Irish Music scene. Anyone know of any good spots for electronic music? What about other cities in Ireland? I'm willing to take road trips.

thanks for the info bluedad! I've heard the names of both fitch and mckenic but haven't listened to their music. What type of electronic do they do?

how's the weather?

given a masters of music technology program, shouldn't there be fellow students with some interest or even skill in electronic music?
or is this one of those places that's happy if 3 or 4 people sign on for a course of study?

i think you could learn a great deal from fitch given her Absynth programming and composition skills.

my film instructor, who taught at university, was mightily opposed to advanced degrees, he figured that by that time you should just go out and do it, presumably because what he did -- won a few competitions, enough to pull a few grants and eventually get a a teaching post. he was a working class sort, and times have definitely changed. networking

I just started an undergraduate course in UL so I could do Music Tech as a PostGrad!!! You prolly seen my mohawk around campus?!?!? I cant believe a KvRer has been right under my nose all the time!!!

dude such a shame ur in limerick.

This country has so much more to offer. Dublin and Belfast being obvious examples.

Im in Dublin, its not a bad little city, lots of oppurtunities to get noticed, even with the huge amount of people here trying to get noticed!

Within Ireland, Limerick is a famously crappy place, full of red necks, gangs and bigots. There are nice parts of course, but overall, its a f**king horrible place with a big murder rate. People used to call it "stab city" before they started killin each other with bullets.

Promise me, for your own sake, you will take a trip to Dublin for at least a few days before Christmas, you'll dig it.

Im not getting into this... I lived in Limerick for 28 years and Dublin for 2 - speaks volumes IMO...

I'm now in Ireland.....
