Never heard a better osc/filt than Asynth, Why no more dev?

I would like to see Asynth transformed into a big brother version with more features/effects/routing options.. The raw sound is so good i could only imagine what it would sound like with more development. I would LOVE to see a legato mode specificly.. Delay/verb/chorus would be cool too.

second that - Asynth sounds fantastic but lacks in features.
Computers are powerful enough now to handle all that physical modelling stuff with more oscilators and a nice mod matrix.
how about selling an updated version for cheap, like 30 bucks - everybody would have to buy it, and there'd be some more tangible motivation to continue development?

ASynth 2 development has started. It may take a while though, because it will be a complete rewrite from scratch.

But i like the core sound!! Please tell me the same filters will be there.. And the same oscs too!antti wrote:ASynth 2 development has started. It may take a while though, because it will be a complete rewrite from scratch.

Its wierd.. Asynth seems like just some project some genious(antii perhaps?) put out just to see how good they can make oscs and filters sound. I must say there was quite some success. Freak of nature synth.

Some features i would like to see in order of importance:
1. Legato
2. More waveforms (tri,sine)
3. PW mod on triangle
4. EFFECTS!! Delay/verb/chorus minimum
5. Routable envelopes
I want to say thanks for this synth. Rarely do I ever seriously appreciate a contribution a dev has made. The core tone of asynth sets the bar. Well done.

Great news Antti - keep us posted.ASynth 2 development has started
Will this new version have all the bells and whistles? If so it really has amazing potential.

I actually tried this, but found out that 90% of the interesting sound happened within 0-10% of the PW range (close to saw). So until someone comes up with a good sounding pw warping curve, triangle pwm won't be there.LIMITAPROACHINGINFINITY wrote: 3. PW mod on triangle

Thats why when you pw modulate a tri you should carefully set the depth and the starting posistion.. I sometimes only modulate 1/3 of the way through and shifted left about 1/4 of the way through. Also the speed of the lfo can really make or break the sound.. Try modulating deep but slow and passing through a lowpass.. I think this sounds great.antti wrote:I actually tried this, but found out that 90% of the interesting sound happened within 0-10% of the PW range (close to saw). This is great for pads that resemble orchestras..
Look at foorius and karmafx synth. They both have unique sounds of pw mod on tri..

All i ask for is velocity control. i dont think asynth needs new features, just feature enhancements. i can even live without sync'ed-to-host lfo, etc. i think the beauty of Asynth is that it's rawness and simplicity go hand in hand.

This is my experience. Though I did find it kind of useful in that it functions like an oscillator morph.antti wrote:I actually tried this, but found out that 90% of the interesting sound happened within 0-10% of the PW range (close to saw). the reason that someone WOULDN'T want effects etc:
1. they take up the coder's time that he(she?!) could be spending on coding better fliters etc
2. they sometimes bug out, and then you can't use the synth because of buggy effects (delay espescially)
3. when you have a patch randomizer function (like in energyXT) the more effects the worse it is for stability.
it's not so much that we wouldn't want features, it's just a question of WHICH features, and we don't need another chorus, what the world needs now is love sweet filter and oscillator love.
