CUBASE SX3 resets my JP8000 or any other MIDI KEYBOARD

I have CUBASE SX3 and ROLAND JP-8000 connected with MIDI cables into M-AUDIO FIREWIRE 410.
I design a bad ass lead and then have Cubase play it. What Cubase does is: it resets the synth preset to some other preset. How do I stop Cubase from doing it?
It resets my custom preset to something else, when I want it to play my preset.

Hi,
Don't know if it's that but in the inspector on the left there are two boxes called "bnk" and "prg". They should read "off".
If they show anything else the preset on your keyboard will change.

Hi Rollex, firstly i suggest u save your sound as a preset in the synth for any time recal..
hmmm there is probably a program change message transmitted to the synth which is resettin its patch.. select the midi part, go to list editor and make sure there are no program change messages there.. if yes then delete them and try again...

I don't have SX3, but I do recall having similar issues with a much earlier version of Cubase. The trick, as I recall, was to realise that you have to make sure that the "bnk" and "prg" settings are "off" not only for the track, but for each part within the track. Try selecting the track (but no parts within the track) and check that the settings are "off". Then select each part individually, one at a time, and check that the settings are off for each of these parts (using the inspector window on the left side). I don't have Cubase in front of me at the moment, and, as I say, don't have SX3, so this may be complete bollocks, but probably worth a try.
You might also want to check that there are no other parts or other tracks that are set to send to the same instrument that may also have program or bank changes within them, or "bnk" and "prg" inspector settings set to other than "off".
Finally, have you tried setting the MIDI filter so that program changes are not sent (can't quite recall where you set this, but it will be either in the Preferences or MIDI settings windows somewhere - try using the help menu to find it, if it is not obvious). It would be interesting to see if this has any effect.
Best of luck.

Rollex, feel free to Email me a test project where this happens, I can see if there is anything that may be sending Midi control messages that reset the synth.

yep dude... all known causes have been discussed.. try uploading the project causing the prob,, may be we can check it out for you...
okay now could u try inserting a diff VSTi on that midi track... is it ressting the patch on every synth or only one particular synth/...

I wonder if there is some Sysex embedded in your file somewhere? Doesn't SX3 now reintroduce Device Maps/Panels? Is there something in there that is generating Sysex to send a reset message? Just thinking aloud.....
