I bet it comes with another dongle too. Or even that you have to pay for that seperately!
I mostly still use Ambience, which I am generally happy with apart from it's absurd CPU overhead.
I would definitely like a top-drawer reverb though. I'm waiting to see what the new version of Wave Arts Masterverb will bring to the table, because the balance of great sound and low CPU overhead was certainly tempting with the previous version. And the new one looks set to be more versatile...

Yes, but from the guys who brought us Sample Tank and Amplitube....drinelli wrote:I wanted to say something intelligent, but who bothers, I am broke, if this turns out to be a fantastic reverb even better than AAR. Well then

Not sure what you think is wrong with SampleTank and Amplitube but AFAIK the coder for CSR-1 had nothing to do with those apps. He’s the same guy who made the Lexicon reverb emulations P-100 and A-100 for the Creamware Scope platform which are distributed through Sonic Timeworks. Scope users have been raving about them since their release so I’m confident that the quality will be top shelf. Whether it’s worth the asking price is of course up to everyone to decide for themselves.Frippertronix wrote:Yes, but from the guys who brought us Sample Tank and Amplitube....drinelli wrote:I wanted to say something intelligent, but who bothers, I am broke, if this turns out to be a fantastic reverb even better than AAR. oh, thanks Yoss for the Info.
I have never heard of that scope reverb, but did a search on google and found that link:
http://www.sonictimeworks.com/a_100.php
very nice seems to be a good tool
maybe some scope users can post some processing mp3 with the timeworks creamware plug-in.
Creamware had and has one of the best sounding software synths and maybe this is a really professional tool...
on vst market thanks to synthedit there are sooooo many kiddy toys that do not offer professional sound quality....

The reason why I think it's very unlikely that they will get anywhere close to a high-end lexicon is: Why now? Why them? Is there something that makes the coders/enginers especially talented that no other company has ever had? Roland, Yamaha, TC, Korg, Eventide, Kurzweil etc have all tried for years to re-create that famous lexicon sound. Some have even poured over a decade of research into it so why would a company like IK suddenly get it right? Like Griesinger (the dude who has created most of the famous lexicon algorithms and is mostly responsible for the 960 unit and it's unique 5.1 reverbs) said himself at the tonmeister lecture last year , it takes time, effort, research and a bit of magic to get a good algorithm and this dude has several decades of experience. So unless IK hired this dude or one of hisBroken wrote:If it sounds as good as what they are obviously trying to pass it off as (480L)Then I would buy it for 399.
The CPU consumption will be interesting
equally talented colleague's from TC, I very much doubt that the IK reverb will be anything more than a plugin with a pretty GUI and a passable but non-revolutionary sound.

If the dude who did the timeworks plate for scope worked on it i'm fairly sure that the plate algorythm will be sweet - as that is a good reverb, but it's good at a hefty cost on dsp - & that's using the scope cards optimised audio dsp's, so it will be interesting to see how they manage to come close to that quality without raping the cpu.

You know though, its either going to be good enough to justify the cost or not. Odds are, the 399 will never be real - i've never payed full price for any audio software yet.
Its also very easy to determine if its better or not - just compare the demo to other verbs you know are good or that you like. Its also going to be very scrutinized - thats already started before its even out based on nothing. The CSR that comes in miroslav is so limited that that wouldn't be a basis for comparison to anything really so thats not even a good start.
Everyone seems to love ArstAcoustic and R66 and the Prinston one and a few others. Its either going to be twice as good as those (or will likely have to be more than twice as good as those to justify the price) or its going to sell a lot more of the AA, R66, prinston verbs etc. because people are going to realize they are as good for half the price. Or maybe 90% as good for half the price which will be good enough for 95% of the people out there. I may only be 50% correct on that last paragraph with a 10% margin of error. But you get the point.
Its either going to justify its cost or it wont. If it doesnt, they wont sell any.

found this: it is a shoot out between the Sonic Timeworks P-100 Reverb and the PCM80. The IK Reverb should sound nearly exactly the same....
i am downloading it right now.... 30mb WAV files......
