I agree. This business model has worked well for others like Ultimate Sound Bank.

yep i agree, concentrate on marketing the quality of the samples themselves, and provide a sampler front end for users who don't have one

you could also think about putting out WusikStation 1 format samples, as there are many WS users out there now (probably 90% of KVR users after the $9,95 sale :hihi: )

the only thing i´m not sure about it, which formats it should be available in.

but lets face it: a set of samples in different formats would be much better because i could reach more users then - everyone could use his/her fav. sampler (and of course pc / mac!)

I can help you with sample format conversion. I believe i have a list of formats i can convert to that is downloadable from my website, on the services page.

peace!~

ok, good to hear that i´m not alone with this idea :D

i´m thinking of making seperate dvd / cd-sets for each format. for now, i have the following formats in mind:
  • WAV / AIFF
  • Akai (S5k, S6k?)
  • EXS (EXS24?)
  • EXT (I believe Energy XT has a built-in sampler?)
  • SF2 + sfz
  • Refill (Reason 2.5+3)
  • Wusikstation (i would only need that wusik2snd-converter thing?)
Formats i´m not sure about:
  • Giga
  • HALion
  • Kontakt
  • Sampletank
I´m not totally sure on how to make samplesets for these samplers. perhaps a converter like extremsampleconverter would be enough?

Apart from all that i would put a frontend (windows-only, SE ;)) on all discs so that each buyer would have the preferred format and also a vst plugin on top of that.

have i forgotten something? :)

@totc: i´ve found an rtf file on your page but it seems to me that there´s nothing in it or something? couldn´t open it :/
