Not to be over looked on IK's website is the new Miroslav Orchestra Refills for Reason 3. Squids it looks like its a great day for you, Sonic Reality and IK.

Before you sit down to relax and crack open that much deserved beer, could you answer 1 more question?

Will you have Miroslav Orchestra Refills out in the future for Miroslav Philharmonik?

Thanks for all the hard work.

Thanks Wade. Here's the link to the news: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/MainPhp.htm ... php&Id=436

Miroslav Orchestra Refills are newly enhanced Miroslav orchestra samples for Reason 3 (complete with cool Combinator modules too that look like little Philharmoniks). They draw from both the original Miroslav Vitous sample collections and they also include additional instruments and articulations.

As for your question about additional expansion libraries for Miroslav Philharmonik, considering this is one of our most successful products in such a short time I think that if it continues to go this well then perhaps there will be more for you guys. Okay, there will be. More news on that later though.

Meanwhile, Reason 3 users can celebrate this opportunity to get specific collections of high end orchestral material for just $199. each (and that's before discount). Even better news than that is that we're not talking long here (yeah right... heard that before? No, but I am serious. It''ll be soon.).

Have you guys checked the other IK press releases? Pretty cool stuff!

I am very excited about the Miroslav Refills. Hopefully, for Miroslav Philharmic Owners and esoundz repeat customers (of which I am both) there will be a deal to buy all the Refills at once.

Meanwhile, I am ordering the Squids Tron Collection V1 -- however, I would have appreciated an email telling me about this sale. I would have hated to miss it.

Some of us want to give you our money. Please email us know when you are announcing new products and having deals. I don't have enough time to check this board and I sure don't want to miss anything.

Okay we'll do that G.

These Miroslav Refills are killer. I think Reason users are going to love them. They should be out next month! We'll have a special crossgrade deal for any Philharmonik users too.

Just what I've been waiting for. 8)

Although... The price per library is a little unnerving. :? I mean, when compared to the original Miroslav collection it's a kickass deal, but not quite so when compared to Miroslav Philharmonik. All of the Miroslav Refills will be $1,200 together, whereas Philharmonik is only $400 at the moment. Of course, I guess that's just what you have to pay in order to have the added ease of use of using the samples in Reason. However, for almost the same price I could just get Miroslav Philharmonik and Cubase...

Still, though, I appreciate the effort and the support for Reason, and I might end up getting 'em (especially if you throw in some kind of bundle deal to get them all at a discount)!

well i think this is servicing a different composer than Philharmonik. this is meant for more of the composer that just wants to pick and chose a few different elements of the miroslav collection that they want. ALSO Philharmonik is locked with a dongle so they were probably more comfortable with bringing the price down more.

if you're a hardcore Reason dude then it's more valuable to have those samples in Reason with a combinator to help start up the session.

Consider that $199 is the MSRP and a store can discount it to say $159 or so. That means you can buy Miroslav Strings for $159 (which is a price "within Reason" for Reason users). Currently you cannot do that in ST (you can only get the full Miroslav Philharmonik for $599 which is now the MSRP of that because it went up... you just have maybe until the end of this month before all of the stores have adjusted their prices is all). So, it is a trade off. YES if you DO have Cubase (or PT or DP or Logic) then getting Philharmonik is an absolutely astounding deal for all it has (and compared to the original Miroslav price). It is a better deal for sure. So get it!

If you are a Reason user AND a plug-in host user and you own Philharmonik you can get the Miroslav Refills for a crossgrade discount that will allow you to have your cake and eat it too. Visa versa as well. But, if you are only a Reason user then you have the choice of either cherry picking what you need (Strings, Brass, Woodwinds etc.) or you will have the chance to get the whole bundle I think for $799. MSRP (so discounted off of that). Basically just a few hundred more than Philharmonik which is the flagship Miroslav product. That's not bad. It doesn't use a key (so the Bearded Ones can get it ;) ) and it has different programming using the Combinator. It is packed in an encrypted refill so you don't have access to the waves or ability to translate out of it though. But, bottom line is, if you are a Reason user then it is a must have! ;) It is the best orchestra available for Reason. So, it is worth the price if people are serious about it.

I really can't wait for these refills.

Any ball-park idea of when the upgrade prices, etc. will be announced?

it's $199/library right? If I'm to get all of them...that's...x5?

Anyway I could "cross-grade" from the origional? Or "trade" for it? :p

Wishful thinking....

Not sure, but I think we'll try to make it good especially for the launch. I know we have a lot of customers who have both a product like Cubase and Reason as well. I can fully see why it would be nice to have Miroslav sounds in both. So, we'll find a way to make it accomodating such a user. This is something we have more flexibility to do on www.esoundz.com though in terms of bundling/upgrades than say world-wide in general which is a bit trickier on logistics and technicalities. For instance, I think this crossgrade offer will only even be made through SR and esoundz (like we did with Sonic Synth 1) because it doesn't work the same way IK's registration qualification system works (which allows the easy retail crossgrades for IK products to be possible).

So, we'll see.

Man, I can't decide. :( Should I stick with nothing but Reason, or should I get Cubase and Philharmonik? I need some opinions - for composing just orchestral pieces, which would you say is more capable - Philharmonik with Cubase, or Reason with the Miroslav Refills? :?

Yeah, I'm on a very limited budget. Philharmonik with Cubase would be around $1,000, and the Miroslav Refills should be around $700. But which would be the better setup for orchestral composing? I like the self-contained idea of Reason, but what about the sound sculpting and effects that come with Philharmonik, as well as the features of Cubase? Can Reason compare? I'm sure a lot of it boils down to personal preference, but I've never used anything but Reason...

Of course, the Miroslav Refills aren't even out yet, but I'd like to go ahead and get Philharmonik now if I'm going to, so that I can take advantage of the sale price.

Any opinions would be helpful... :help:

Well, you are right about the sound sculpting and you also have certain advantages in a host like Cubase such as notation and audio recording (you can bounce Philharmonik tracks to audio to get more out of it etc.). However, if you already have Reason and are used to it then that might be important to you too. You are right in that it is personal preference. The only good thing I can tell you is that we are going to make a very good crossgrade discount for people who want to get both.

Good luck!

I want both...hm...you're not forcing me to spend more money this year are you Squids!? Remember...I already don't have time to play with Philarmonik already!
