dusted william wrote:Who out there is using the behringers V amp 2?

I intend to buy one for bass and one for guitar,

but for not much more I could get amplitube 1 w/ free upgrade to 2.

I basically just want to know if people are happy recording with the behringers.

Thanks

I owned V-Amp for a little bit. Actually put it through a tube poweramp but never got it to sound good.

But, outputting guitar sounds to a guitar amp with speakers for guitar does sound better.

Anyway, if you don't like the Behringer you can always sell it. Not so with amplitube.

I have a V-amp2 and it works great. I use it in all my fantastic songs.

I had a V-Amp 2 with my last guitar (sold them together) and it was great :D The editor software is a godsend, tho' why it wasn't included in the box is beyond me :? I had to download it seperately. I hope this has changed now and it's in the box. There's also lots of patches available, with some great sounds amongst them. The catch is, you've got to dowbnload them individually, which can be a pain.

No, not if you plan to use the VAmps outputs,
pluged straight into your soundcard.

Only if you want to play the guitar DIRECT into the card. ;)
But even than the bypassed VAmp should do the trick.

I use My VAmp2 all the time and it suits my guitar needs perfectly, plus I can run it into one of my MSP5s for low volume practice or use the headphone out for silent practice without needing to switch the Mac on. Plus, no processor overheads.

I was writing the same thread... and... oops.. it's here... well

But what about the new BOSS GT-6B Bass Effects Processor versus Amplitube ?

the boss comes with a lot of FX, an integrated DI box and digital out to go stright into your audiocard.

And has COSM amp simulation...

so the question is:

V-Amp or Boss GT-6B or ... Amplitube?

I would go for the hardware.

Dont know the Boss but with a $99 Vamp2,
you simply cant go wrong. ;)

Edit:
Just found this for 159 Euro ! :-o

Do you still belive that Amplitube is worth your cash ?

It is hard to compare stuff when Amplitube 2 is not out yet. Behringer stuff is good for the price, I think that bass V-amp is ok-ish, but kind of dislike Vamp2, most of the models sound similar to me, like they have just few of them and then there is some kind of filtering to make them sound different. But againg for that money, that is good purchase. Personally I would shell out a bit more money and get used POD, or even Guitar Port (you can upgrade it to have all models that are in their flagship Vetta II amp) because I think Line 6 modelling is still quite superior to Behringer rip off.
Although if Amplitube 2 justifies al the hype, it may be also good purchase, who knows?

I like older boss stuff but dislike their emulations of amps, sounds really artificial to me. Of course it also can be a matter of taste.
Most important here is do you need software with all possibilities it gives, "reamping" later inside your computer and automating effects, or hardware that you can easily carry around separately from your DAW.

The new Behringer Sansamp rip offs could actually be cool, too, & for less money. Sansamps react better than the digital modelers & sound cool in their own unique way. It's not so much that they would ever replace a real amp (it couldn't) but instead sound cool next to or as an alternative to the real thing.

The rack behringer Vamps are pretty kick ass really. For the price of a plugin you get pretty capable hardware.

That is true. I have had this one on my list for a while now.
