I tried to download the beta version of the mobius looper (http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1770.html) which seemed really nice, but while downloading, Avast found a trojan worm inside it (Win32:Trojan-gen) ;
What is that mess ?

There have been several reports of Avast finding "trojans" in the Mobius
installer that no other virus scanner can detect. The installer executable is
generated by the wildly popular NullSoft product. I regularly run both Norton and
McAfee and they find nothing. I am fairly certain that this is a false alarm.

Hmmm. Avast seems to be finding more and more false positives lately (say what you will about AcroRead, but it's no virus). Maybe it's going rogue.

Sounds very much like a false positive. I use AVG with the latest update, the first system scam after updating found Trojans in two vsti installers that had been on my hard drive for months with no problems. The Trojan it found was so old, it 'should' have been found by AVG before updating it. It's probably safe to ignore the warning.
