Fellows,

I am contemplating purchasing a all-in-one suite to use with my copy of Cubase LE. The product I am looking at now is Nomad Factory's Essential Studio Suite ( http://www.nomadfactory.com/products/st ... index.html )

Is that a good idea to buy a suite like this? or is it better to buy seperate plugins for different tasks?

What other suites would you recommend.

Btw, hink did you listen to my first mix ( i am not sure it is a mix or not )/mastring?

I would recomend you stick to the basic EQ & compression tools that come with Cubase: only when you have used these in earnest on several mixes should you consider demoing payware IMO.

The bundled reverb probably sucks, but Freeverb or one of its derivatives should be good enough to get you started..

Voxengo is my favourite for mastering, I also agree that you should definitely check them out. I wouldn't touch the stuff in Cubase for serious work personally

My recommendations:

EQ: Kjaerhus Golden GEQ-7 and/or Elemental Audio Equium

Dynamics: WWAYM Dynamix, Voxengo Soniformer 2, Elemental Audio Finis, Kjaerhus GUP-1 compressor, GPP-1 limiter, TbT Pocket Limiter (free), TbT
Maximizer (free)

All fairly to very affordable, all excellent if you need/want a native VST solution. I recommend the above any day over Waves.

Probably the best affordable bet for master reverb is ConvoBoy, since Voxengo PS Light is no longer available, or for a slightly less stable and more CPU intensive/high latency (but free) option, SIR. Then look for free impulses all over the web.

I like my Princeton 2016 for some mastering duties, but it isn't cheap and not that versatile. Arts Acoustic is another alternative, as is R66.

Absolutely agree that Voxengo and Kjaerhus are the way to go. From sound quality, reasonable price, and absence of challenge/response stupidity.

GEQ-7 is a sweet, versatile eq. Elephant2 is a great limiter. For compression, i'm not so sure. I've always dithered between Kjaerhus and Voxengo compressors, and not a single one has all the right features in the one package. This is a damn shame for GCO-1, and probably means Crunchessor is the winner at this point in time.

Many people would argue that you shouldn't use a single reverb over the master bus. At times i've argued why you might want to do this, but now I say don't do that - if you still have access to the mix. It's understandable that some mastering houses might add reverb over stereo mix, because they don't have any other option.

I think bundled plugins are just a way to force you to buy inferior plugins. Buy just the good stuff, from whoever makes the best (to your ears). Having said that - the Voxengo AF Suit is tasty.

Could you recommend a Mixing/Mastering suite?
