Just wanted to give 2 thumbs WAY up for the CME UF5 Controller. They mention this thing is Pro quality and man, they are not kidding! I bought the entry (because to be honest I didn't want to wait for the 61 Key to get back in stock at American Musical) and expected to be let down when I pulled it out of the box. First off, the thing is 49 Keys and weights more than some of the full-fledged synths I've owned. That's a good feeling! Don't buy this if you're looking for super-mobile laptop playing. You won't want to move this thing a whole lot. :) Although, get you a case and I'm sure it wouldn't be that bad.

The keys are a bit stiff at first. But, it does seem to lend to a more realistic feel. After 30 minutes of playing, I was used to it and really liked it. Again, they don't feel cheap. I never felt like I was going to break them, no matter how hard I played.

Also, there are lots of other great things about this board. There are lots of buttons to program and it even offers an add-on that fits in the back of the board that gives you firewire and othr inputs and outputs. Didn't get that either as it wasn't in stock.

Other than the latency issues I'm dealing with (due to my beautful AC97 on board sound, which I will be fixing soon with the purchase of a Edirol UA25) I just wanted to give props to this board. I don't see a whole lot about it and that shouldn't be the case.

I love it! :)

But it's not exactly a thing of beauty, is it?

Beauty is in the eye. :) It's not all black, no doubt. I do like it though. But I guess if you want it to match your other gear, it will stand out! :) I guess, think, Korg Karma...but better built!

when entering my studio everybody says "whoa" to my uf6, if ya wanna know.

maybe it's not ready for Louvre, though.

hehe. :D

I love mine, black and red are my favorite colors, the only improvement I would make on this is red keys instead of white.

I tried one in a shop the other day, and I thought the action was all over the place. Some keys felt spongier/heavier/lighter than others. Perhaps it was an old version?

i have a uf5, and I am very happy with it, a hell of a lot better than the broken edirol piece of crap i had before..

Yea, I think that's the thing most people will notice. If you're coming from the usual usb controller (which I had an M Audio before) which is very light and plastic, you're in for a nice surprise with the CME.

To the guy who mentioned the keys. Mine feel the same across the board, so it's possible the one you tried may have been abused. Hard to say. Although saying that, I don't get the feeling much on this board couldn't take it....except for the record and playback buttons, which don't seem to fit the quality on the rest of the board.

Oooh...that's not bad either. MLan is Yamaha's little baby. Interesting that CME picked this for their board. Like the silver, hate the (fake) wood sides though. Glad to see them trying something different though, either way.

I bought the UF6 mLan the other day and it's a real beauty. As you mentioned I'm allso a little dissapointed regarding those fake wooden sides. I think I will make real ones my self. The feeling to play on it is great. I would have liked a more responsive aftertouch. The drivers is still a little buggy but I think they will improve it. The support and manual is crappy. The keyboard got an internal audio interface and there is no manual to show you how to hook up the thing. They use the terratec Phaze 24 Firewire audio interface in the UF series. Go to:

http://supporten.terratec.net/modules.p ... ad&sid=306

if you need a manual.
The impressions so far is solid, nice looking, feels great to play, the support and manual is crap. The drivers has to be improved and at last it's cheap very very cheap. There is so far no competitors in this pricerange!

I've been reading on the CME forums of reported issues with stuck notes and even crappy paint that easily peels/scratches/rubs off the case?

Just wanna know if these were just issues with the initial batches and if these have now been ironed out?

thanks
