Moving around folders in SAMPLETANK 2

Just wondering, I wanted to organize my library in SAMPLETANK but didnt want to stir up any problems as far as my previous projects go. I only use SAMPLETANK expansion and sounds and I was wondering...
if I move any samples around, does sampletank look for them when they arent in the same location or does it just load an empty channel?
Also, are any of the SAMPLETANK presets with the same name but are actually a different sound? Asking this because if ST automatically looks for the sample it may take the wrong one.
THANKS>

You're free to move or rename the folders however you want. You can even move the individual sounds within the folders to suit your taste. Just make sure that when you move individual sounds, that you move all three (or four) files together (.sti .sth .stw).
ST2 won't have any problems finding the sounds, even when loading older projects. Just make sure that you hit "relist" twice so ST2 can rebuild its internal database.

which implies that the name of the sample files must be unique?Kim (esoundz) wrote: ST2 won't have any problems finding the sounds, even when loading older projects. Just make sure that you hit "relist" twice so ST2 can rebuild its internal database.

In this case, the ST 2.1 sounds must either have different names, when changed, or one cannot really keep the old and the new ones in the same root directory.
Or one would leave ST2 installed and additionally ST2.1, assign different root folders to them and that would work. The purpose would be to make sure that existing projects are not affected by changes in the sound programming or something of that sort.
That would be alittle unworkable for those who have bought additional ST2 libraries, cause they either can be accesed onyl by one the versions, or you have to have the on the HD twice.
What do you think, Kim?

I haven't seen the 2.1 library yet (I'm eSoundz staff, not on the development team), so I can't advise on what the actual situation will be.
However, I suspect that if many of the 2.1 library sounds will have the same names as the 2.0 library then the best way to manage it would be to have two root folders, and switch between the two as needed. I don't suggest having two different versions of the SampleTank plugin installed at once - that could cause some very strange problems that might be hard to identify and fix.
If you have the 2.0 library and the 2.1 library in different root folders and switch between them, then I think that would be the best compromise. For people with additional libraries, this could be difficult. For people who mix and restructure their libraries (like I do!), it could be even more difficult.
Of course, the best solution would be for the 2.1 and 2.0 libraries to co-exist simultaneously. Unforunately, it's not up to me.
Anyway, at this stage it's all conjecture. I can give some more informed advice once the 2.1 library is out there.
