yeah, i think i said something about that replacing the synths with analog synths in another post in this thread (maybe not) and they redid a lot of it in protools etc... who cares. to be honest, i really don't care what host they used either, i was just pointing out that there are two newer albums by artists who didn't suck and now they suck. the only constants i could see between the two were that they both used reason. reason doesn't make you write shitty music (i was just kinda join around when i hinted at that) but obviously, if you don't load your own samples, it prob won't sound the best. what makes people write shitty music are things like laziness (which, in this case, is probably the main culprit).

there are some good songs (like the first two and there are a few others that are semi-decent) but why put out an album that is mostly crap outside of a few singles? (i think i answered this earlier on in this post)

Well...I happen to think that the album is mostly excellent except for a few...like most albums I think are excellent, I didn't figure this out in just a few listenings...but to each their own or whatever. 8)

and the beasties, "check your head" is awesome from start to finish and "paul's boutique" (etc etc....)

point is, don't write your whole new album with reason people (like they both did). use it for drums maybe, just don't write a whole album with that gui (it's great and all as a sketch pad) but it makes people lazy. stick with cubase/logic/craption/pt/performer/live/even fls/whatever
just avoid reason.

i like beastie boys "cookie puss", i was reminded of the tune when i heard some people commenting about cookie puss on the radio, i guess it's some kind of cookie available in NYC, i mentioned it in the bass line thread, no one has apparently heard of it...best bass line (including 'sabotage') and tune by the beasties, but i only heard it a couple times...

i can understand disliking reason on principle, but what's the beef with "craption"? "P.U base" came with "EM-EEouuoooseeyoulatorX", and it was pretty toy like, if they were trying to gather converts, they sure failed with me (it was the LE version, maybe the SX stuff is better)...i really like "CRAP2", it's easy and it works...

rg
i wasn't bad mouthing traktion, i was telling people to use it or any other host other than reason (which isn't even a host really). i just called it craption because that's what some people call it around here (like tarnce i guess) (just being loser)
i shouldn't have even said anything about it, i just thought "craption" was very funny...everybody seems to rave about it from what i see, it's a laugh to see someone take the piss out of it (see what you brits have done to me? i'm picking up some of the lingo... )

to the person who said "watershed is a foo fighters song", the term watershed is actually a way of describing something as seminal, or groundbreaking i think, and it was in that context that the poster was using it. you will notice he wrote watershed Nevermind album - meaning that Nevermind was a watershed album.
:D
nothing like a little bit of pedantics late on a sunday night.

as per that bit of conversation: Albini's production on In Utero is far superior to anything butch mtv or whatever his last name is has done.
imo, that is. :D
although i do like a lot of his work with Garbage.

Alright, a little miscommunication. my fault on lack of vocabulary... and a bizzare coincidence :D
Nevermind WAS watershed. Kurt had a knack for taking an underground movement and making it accesible to many people by writing very catchy songs.
