Doesn't sound like bullshit to me at all. Psychoacoustics is a fact. Other things apart from sound effect the way we percieve sound.

Yeah...you can take one dish withTeksonik wrote:Ah ha! That's what I've been calling "Psycho-Optics". The effect of a GUI on the perception of a synth's sound. Shouldn't make any difference but the senses are closely connected.
1 steak
1 baked potato
some corn
and it will taste good
take that same exact dish
add some garnish..
and it'll taste even better.
I think the same concept

Hmmm interesting analogy. I guess that's why resturants always put a bit of parsley on the plate.system20 wrote:Yeah...you can take one dish withTeksonik wrote:Ah ha! I think the same concept
but it's true..people's enjoyment of food
is greatly enhanced by appearance...
now if we can only get our Big Mac's from
Mc Donalds to look like they do on the
menu board...oh we can only dream what that
would be like !

Must be good drugs where you are.
Have tried closing your eyes while playing it?
Do they sound different then?
Can't wait to try it with the new GUI.
The Starfield GUI was ok once I realised there
was a button to turn on the controls, but it's
really annoying how it turns off whenever you
change a patch.
I think the problem with these "Arty" GUIs is
that it takes too much concentration to
select and tweak a parameter.
I don't need that kind of extra thought
process when I'm in creative mode.
Having said that.......the synth itself sounds amazing.
Great effort from yourself and TC.
Thanks.
(waiting expectantly for ODO GUI version )

I had a freakin BLAST making patches on the
CYGNUS synth, what I did..was I cheated using
the lables option untill I got familiar
with where everything was at..and then I started
making sounds without the labels option and then
the imagination flow.
I agree it's a pain for a while, but I think the
design was intended for someone to just play
around using only the imgination..use the force
so to speak..
I maybe wrong..
Over all..CYGNUS has been the funnest synth
I have ever fiddled with bar none...
now I had just completed a bank of 32 patches
for FELSPAR and that actually was more challenging
with everything right in front of my face..
so I say Bravo Zulu for CYGNUS !

I've got the working OdO version now..(I will be posting it up tomorrow with a bit of luck) and its identical beneath the skin ..
BUT
Play the patches and because you are looking at a different skin, to my ears, they sound different.
I would not have believed this and I promise I'm not just saying this for the sake of it.. I wouldn't have believed the subjective impact the skin could have..!!
