i've been in the "studio" for some time working on these drum samples and i cant seem to get a full sound, even after compression maybe you guys could recommend some techniques or software to cure my "emptyness".

hi, i would first of all let me know which samples you use.
then there are lot of site and tuts about getting a rich and cool drum sound.
basically all you have to do is work with compression and eq and listen to each instrument. experiment what you put first in chain, eq or comp and then fool around. there also should be some standard pages in the internet which tell you which frequencies should not be at a hihat or on a kick drum but personally the best thing is to use your ears.
it is obvious that everything below 500khz has nothing to do on a hihat and that the muffy sound of a kick drum can be erased by bring down 250hz-2000hz, prolly more or less. it is on you how you like the kick and all the other samples.

yeah i'm pretty familiar with frequencies, starting to get equing down, i'm using breaks of all sorts, grabbing from track sampling, and then i get a dry unsaturated sound, no flow, it's like it's too easy to pick out a voice, i used to just compress to hell til' it all "breathed" together, but that's not a very popular sound. i need to bring out crispness, in a way where the samples flow together in more natural harmony.
People are the backround music of life.
