Double Desktop 2.0 : Dual monitor view on a single screen

Not sure if this was already discussed here before(a search turned up nothing),but I just read about Craig Andertons mention of it in the new EQ mag(Nov.).Apparently it's free software(donations accepted)that emulates dual screens on a single monitor,and gives dual monitors quad views.Good for those without dual monitors(laptops) and those on a budget(me! ).Anyway some people here will surely find it useful.Here's the link http://www.fatfreesoft.com/2desk.php

This has been mentioned, but it's always good to remind people about stuff like this. This little utility is a true gem! Slide your vsts off one screen onto a "second"--hit the arrow to switch instantly from host view to vst view.

Since we're sharing such things, there's also an 'opposite' product. Maxivista lets you use other computers (ie. your laptop) as a second monitor. This product is also cool, but not free--> ($30 USD)

I was part of the beta team, and I can tell you that it works as advertised with pretty much no hassle. I ran into trouble when I installed a network, but I'm sure his customer support would get you sorted out.

To be honest, I don't use it any more. I would LIKE to (my laptop's monitor is better quality than the CRT I'm using for my second monitor!) but I find that my laptop generates too much noise, even just from its one little fan.

Am I wrong when I thing microsoft has a power toy to create a virtual desktop with four windows?
Is that not better then 2 from double desktop?

I have never tried it myself.

The micrsoft power toy is SLOOOW AS HEEELL!!!!11 Then again, pretty much all for Windows are since Windows was not made for this kind of thing.

One thing lacking from all the dual desktop programmes I've tried for windows (at least the free ones) is something like that popup window you get on Linux that has little thumbnails of all your desktops and you can drag and drop apps from one thumbnail to another - it's really neat.

Also one thing I don't like about Double desktop is the way you have to drag a window halfway over then switch desktops manually and drag the other half in - I'd prefer to just drag the window and for the screen to automatically follow my mouse over onto the next desktop.

Is there anyway I can use it on CubaseSX to drag my opened VSTi or the VST mixer from workspace on the second screen and rest in the first?
