If you're talking about using the Miroslav sounds for orchestral purposes and don't really need the sounds that come with reason, then think about
using the smallest Cubase version together with Philharmonik. (Cubase SE)
IMHO, Cubase SX standard effects are not really better than what you get with Philharmonik in the box, actually the Phil-built-in EQ and reverb are from IK top noth products CSR and Tracks.
STEINBERG CUBASE SE 3 is about 139 Euros ($166)

Well, I would like to be able to use Reason's sounds along with the Miroslav samples... Couldn't I do that using that ReWire thing? I wish I knew more about how that worked.

Wow, Cubase SE is that cheap? :-o How does it compare to SX? And can it still utilize ReWire? I'll have to look into it...

Thanks for the info.

There was a Cubase-version-comparison-chart somewhere at the Steinberg site.
CubaseSE can do Rewire. If you happen to have a Cubasis version, you can get the upgrade for €69. The last time I saw a Cubasis VST 5.0 it was €29, so that would actually be cheaper than the straight way. :)

Sure, you can run Reason and use Rewire to connect it to Cubase, that's what Rewire is for, and then run Philharmonik as a VST-plugin in Cubase SE.

Here's some basic data about it

48 Audio tracks and unlimited MIDI tracks
24/96 recording
16 VST instrument slots
5 insert effects and 8 send effects per channel
VST System Link and ReWire 2-compatible
Fully automatic delay compensation for plug-ins
