Thanks Sascha. I saw the Audiobuddy - so it's good quality then? I have not been inspired to buy any M-Audio products I always have found them cheap looking.

I've heard other people reporting that switching to a different pre improved their sound. They were indicating that they found the Audiobuddy to lack a bit of clarity.
Dunno what other options to offer, though. DI into a mixer channel is working "OK", but I'm still waiting for a better solution, too.

I find a lot of guitar noise issues can be avoided
by converting to digital before the computer.
I usually run through my Tascasm DA30MkII DAT
machine or Roland G-20 Amp Factory. Both have
SPDIF out...that does the trick for me.
