I bet there's loads of good stuff on the album, but the flash preview of the single on her site sounded very sloppy in terms of production (though obviously a lo-fi version is not the best way to judge)

Well, Kate is not the one to go to for 3 minute pop songs. From the sound of this single, this could be a very interesting album, like Hounds Of Love, or Sensual World.

I like it. Thumbs up, so far.

thanks for the article -- Hounds of Love was the first of hers I bought (on vinyl), just because of the cover and (at the time) despite the video for "running up that hill"

the approach indicated in the article sounds like the difference between a painter trying to mix precise colors versus a songwriter hoping to make something that will go over well no matter who covers it

but "Jig of Life" is still by far my favorite from that album

I'd agree with that. It's a fair enough piece of music, but it's a poor choice for a first single after a dozen whatever years. My wife is a true follower of Kate Bush - owns everything listens to all the words - and even she felt the single isn't making it.

Good read there, ta for the link.

I like what I'm hearing on the single preview even though it sounds exactly like Kate Bush.

You can't beat The Dreaming imo. Best album she did.
