Linndrum and even LM-1 is what whas mostly used in those areas. :)

i myself used pretty much Linndrum on all my 80s tracks. the LM-1 is very nice too tho!

Do a google search for samples linn lm1 linndrum, dmx.

90% of drum machines on records in the mid eighties were processed Linn drums. These samples are relatively easy to get hold of on the net...

After that you may wanna grab samples of the 707, and the Yamaha RX5, which will handle some of the later 80's stuff before it started shifting into samples/loops.

I paid £5 on ebay for about 1GB of Drum sounds from nearly every drum machine made since the 70's..

Alternatively you can get quite a few of them from this site :)

I took a sawtooth wave off this Pantomime4, looped it back, mixed it with the sound of this crab committing suicide and let it stew in its own reverb for about 3 hours, then I pumped it all out through this shoe to give it that oak'y timbre.

Buy that and do what I did: rip the samples from the Akai CD; then you'll get them in .WAV format, set nicely in subfolders and named properly :)

Absolutely. These are 2 great libraries and I'm sure those eBay CD's are just pirated materials coming from Best Service, Soli-Music (the old "Electronic Drum Machines" AKAI CD), etc..
