I've looked at the Sonic Implants site. Are these libraries applicable with Tracktion2?

The downloadables are soundfonts. T2 comes with a soundfont player, or you could use the free sfz from rgc audio.
The ones that come on cd are in different formats such as Giga studio. You would need to buy giga or Kontakt etc to use those unless they are also available in soundfont format.

Let me say i've never heard soundfonts like those neither. So crisp and clear. I forgot all about Sonic Implants too. I'd like to order their string collection at some point.

You can always buy the samplelibraries in Gigaformat, and then convert them to Soundfont with Chicken System Translator or Cdextract..
I've converted all my Giga files to the Kontakt format, works very neat

Thanks folks. You all seem to be very impressed with Sonic Implants. I am very new to computer recording and I am sure I will be asking a lot of questions as time goes by.
So here's another one.
The computer I am using to record on is not connected to the internet, so if I download one of the libraries, e.g. General Midi, from Sonic Network and transfer it to a data CD and load it into the other computer, it should work the same as directly downloading it to that computer.
Is that correct or not?

Correct. No invasive copy-protection, they just wrap an installer around the sound fonts.Jack Halyard wrote:Thanks folks. You all seem to be very impressed with Sonic Implants. I am very new to computer recording and I am sure I will be asking a lot of questions as time goes by.

Sonic Implants is my favorite soundfont vendor (I also have Utopia SD GM bank and the Module Madness set from Creative/EMU). Their Retro GM bank is fun!
Having said that, I've largely moved away from soundfonts in favor of Kompakt and ST2, as well as Wusik, Eve, and Dimension.

Yeah, I meant to say that I would copy them to the hard drive.
Thanks for the help.

Quick question for you pros.
How do I implement the plug-ins? Do I use them with the sampler or what? I know this is probably a stupid question, but I am totally new to computer recording.
Thanks

If they are soundfonts, go to your "Instruments" folder, then "Samplers", and use the Mackie soundfont player and drag it to your MIDI input track. I'm at work so I can't check, but there will be a space to click to open a file, then navigate to where the Sonic Implants stuff is and open the file you want.Jack Halyard wrote:Quick question for you pros.

I second the recommendations. I think their stuff is amazing and lifelike. I only have the demos that were included with Giga 3, and I wish I could afford their brass and strings libraries, but they are very pricey.
Here is my small version:

But they do have lesser expensive downloadable files at SI. And they sell Soundfonts on CD collections. Like session drums. Amps and pickups. If you go to their site find the soundfont link. Downloads and fonts are resonable in price. Not cheep or bad quality mind you. SI's stuff is great even the not so expensive stuff.
