Halion 3 - program searching for samples probs

I'm a new Halion 3 user.

I've bought a sample CD (Project Sam Solo Brass) in Halion format.
I've copied the samples and Halion files to my PC.

Problem is Halion doesn't appear to remember where to access the samples.
Every time I drag and drop one of the instrument files into the program slot I get all these boxes popping up asking to search for the samples.
It eventually finds the samples but it's a pain.

Do the Project Sam samples/files need to be in a specific directory?

I'm sure there is a solution to avoid this.
I've tried the manual but it doesn't seem to cover this.

Any help appreciated.

There may be more sophisticated solution but I know this works for me in Hal 2, although it is still a pain. The first time I load an instrument and it reports missing samples, have the program search for them and then resave the instrument, overwriting the old file. Now Halion knows where the samples are.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

..but as you say, if anyone knows of a more 'elegant' solution....

May be this helps: When you loaded a program in to Halion, click it with the right mouse button and select save as. and save it under a different name.

Ok, try this, perhaps: instead of copying manually the content of your CD, open an instance of HALion, go to the 'Import' page > Select your CD/DVD device > 'Import' the entire library in the directory of your choice.

This "lost samples" is a bum feature of Hal 3.

I can live with it, but it's less than desirable.

ozinexile's solution worked fine actually.
No more problem...

Found I could load up all the FXP files for an instrument at once, then saved them all "without samples".
A lot quicker than doing it one by one.

I'm not disputing this.

I'm more in contention with Steinberg for allowing such weak design to creep into such an expensive piece of software.

Remember, Hal 2 had awful "sample memory and loading". Some days it was like a nightmare.

The high-priced Hal 3 upgrade should have been better than it is.

Does Kontakt 2 give "forgotten your file" messages? No it doesn't.
