Song of Joy is just friggin' brilliant. Hell, I'm a trip-hop/hip-hop producer and I still listen to Nick Cave all the time. Aside from the recently departed Johnny Cash he's probably the best narrative storyteller out there.

Anyone ever read his book (and the angel saw the ass)? Very good and veeeerrrrry disturbing.

hehe it aint goth industrial,its more the storytelling he has in common.
quite twee possibly at first listen and you may wonder why i even suggested it even,but the tales are encapsulating

I really like the new Foetus album. I've never heard harpsichord sound so good (usually just reminds me of lords and ladies milling around in the dark ages), and the bombastic orchestral parts are integrated better than ever before. Plus, for me, there is only one song I don't really like on the album - something I'm only lucky enough to find with a few CDs.

Weirdest CD in my collection is "Music, Martinis and Misanthropy" by Boyd Rice and Friends. One track in particular called "People" is pretty off-the-wall. I think Boyd (and I assume his friends too) was the head buffoon of some Neo-Nazi movement (can anyone confirm/deny that??). Still, the music on People is beautiful; quite haunting. The lyrics are really quite the opposite! Clearly a candidate for a vocal-remover plugin...

It's sleeker I'd say. More polished and accessible, certainly, but also more focused. I'm not really particularly good at writing about this kind of thing, give it a listen and see what you think.
