Im not too into the way FL handles audio, so I was wondering if anyone has success using it with another host such as SX, Sonar, energyXT etc. I was looking to run my audio channels in FL into the mixer of another host thru Rewire or another way (is there another way?). Share your experience and how you use FL and ___. Thanks.

yes there is another way. it's what i do if i don't want to sequence in fruity loops i render to wav files, then slice and dice in tracktion. works good for me and it's what i'm used to, so i'll stick with it.

i didnt know acid could record multi audio... does it? and how would it connect to FL? thats interesting because i use alot of the sonic foundry libraries and I usually have Acid open so I could know the [key] information. FL doesnt do that. Hopefully in FL6 with that new loop tool. Ill check into this though.

so you work strictly with the audio files only? can Tracktion sequence Vst instruments and if so, why would you just do the sequencing in there? thanks.

Acid 5 has ReWire support. And VST support. Choose whichever you want. ALso, you can sequence with it too, and it has Folder tracks. Only problem is that oyu can't overlay automation clips on MIDI tracks, but thats not too hard to work around.

Sonar, and i'm very very very pleased.

(i've got Acid Pro 3, too, but i haven't used/upgraded it since i purchased Sonar)

I second the Sonar (4P right now, 5P soon!)

AA no doubt it can also be used as the default editor in FL and the price is right...300 bux for AA...:D

CubaseSX and FLS... Nothing can be easier than that to handle when working together. I didn't find any better combo so far...

Yes..Sonar could be the second best option.

tracktion can handle vsti's. i rarely use automation and audio files keep the cpu usage to a minimum. so i guess the answer is i prefer not to worry about my computer crashing when i'm woking on music. i don't always do straight up electronic stuff and tracktion is always nice when i need to record some audio on a track. i also use tracktion for recording my vocals after the beat is done. also i have many beats i finish in fl studio alone with no other programs....except maybe an audio editor.

Sonar here, but sometimes it's a bit dodgey working with them both at the same time. Just note that working with rewire, you're adding an entire other program alongside your main, and that eats up resources like mad. It's cool with swifty clients like Bidule, but FL man, it's just gobbles the CPU up when I use it with Sonar.

It's not Sonar's doing more that it's FL. As much as I love the program it really should more efficient.

i'm not sure to understand what you're saying here.

when i want to use FL within Sonar, i open FL as a DXi (or VSTi) into Sonar (you can use Rewire, but Rewire is less handy/convenient and doesn't have any advantage). my own experience is that it doesn't eat a much CPU (P4, 2.26 Gz, 768 RAM), almost nothing.

I don't use anything besides FL. I don't do a LOT of recording, but when I do have to do it, it's not very hard to record with FL and edit/process it from there. Works great.

I use FL and only FL. I've been making music for 2 years with FL and I'm 100% happy with it. well, mostly, all can be better.
Now that I've bought a hardware synth I'm trying to use it within FL, I hope the result will be satisfactory, cos if it isn't I'll have to use another host for such matters...but never stop using FL I guess.
