They are modelled on more vintage processors and have more character than the ultra clean C1/Qx processors in the Native packs.
I really like the renaissance comps - simple and smooth sounding.

thanks. the description on the waves website didn't really say this clearly, at least for my understandingbeej wrote:They are modelled on more vintage processors and have more character than the ultra clean C1/Qx processors in the Native packs.

The ren comp and ren eq are my bread & butter plugs. I like 'em! Take a look at the Musicians Bundle 2 - they are both included there and for a great price! The rest of the renaissance plugs aren't worth the extra price IMO

I find that they are my best plugs (alongside with the bomb factory stuff)

I agree that they are good quality but to tell you the truth, I almost always use other cheaper plugs. RVerb is really good but I tend to use GlaceVerb (free) moer often. RBass is sometimes handy, but not essential. RVox is nice if your doing a lot of vocals, but I don't so it rarely gets used. REQ is nice, but again, I almost never really use it. In the end, I don't think the package is worth the price. If they sold the individual plugs at the same price as the bundle (about $63 per plug-in) then some of them would be worth the money but you end up shelling out a lot of dough for the few pieces you actually end up using. Or at least I did.

The Musicians Bundle 2 is about $150 for the ren eq, ren comp, ren vox, doubler and supertap and is really good value. Supertap I'm not bothered with, but the rest are all really good and used all the time here...

put the supertape after the RVerb (one point to the left, one to the right and look for a good delaytime for both, but not the same (for example: L = 16ms ; R= 8ms)) - sounds great
! - P - E - A - C - E - !
