Is there a difference between the waves renaissance plugins and the rest of the plugins? are these the more vintage sounding plugins or the lowcost ones?

Post

They are modelled on more vintage processors and have more character than the ultra clean C1/Qx processors in the Native packs.

I really like the renaissance comps - simple and smooth sounding.

thanks. the description on the waves website didn't really say this clearly, at least for my understanding ;)

They are more musical in my opinion = they sound better than the other (non ren) waves plugins. I suppose they keep releasing those for compatibility with older projects.

The ren comp and ren eq are my bread & butter plugs. I like 'em! Take a look at the Musicians Bundle 2 - they are both included there and for a great price! The rest of the renaissance plugs aren't worth the extra price IMO

Post

I find that they are my best plugs (alongside with the bomb factory stuff)

Post

they are great, ren-deesser and renbass too.
c1 and q10 have their uses too(c1 is powerful with the sidechain, q10 offers extreme cuts).

I agree that they are good quality but to tell you the truth, I almost always use other cheaper plugs. RVerb is really good but I tend to use GlaceVerb (free) moer often. RBass is sometimes handy, but not essential. RVox is nice if your doing a lot of vocals, but I don't so it rarely gets used. REQ is nice, but again, I almost never really use it. In the end, I don't think the package is worth the price. If they sold the individual plugs at the same price as the bundle (about $63 per plug-in) then some of them would be worth the money but you end up shelling out a lot of dough for the few pieces you actually end up using. Or at least I did.

The Musicians Bundle 2 is about $150 for the ren eq, ren comp, ren vox, doubler and supertap and is really good value. Supertap I'm not bothered with, but the rest are all really good and used all the time here...

Post

I find the Super
tap pretty usefull if I want to psuedo double a vocal part... pan original hard left, copy hard right... very spacious!

Post

Yeah - I really like the Super tap too! Great for vocals and guitar

Post

put the supertape after the RVerb (one point to the left, one to the right and look for a good delaytime for both, but not the same (for example: L = 16ms ; R= 8ms)) - sounds great
! - P - E - A - C - E - !
