I still need bios from 21 of the contributing artists. I could name names, but I think you know who you are. :x That's nearly half of the 49 total artists on the CD. Since there are so many missing, I think we should hold off going live with the pages I've created until we get that number down substantially.

My email is f2 (at) f2sys (dot) net

The bio format is:

Artist Name - Song Title
(To match CD)

Location:
(City, State, Region, Country)

Picture:
(Horizontal JPEG 500 pixels wide by 200 pixels. Please not too many big logos or bizarre psychedelic potatoshop pics. If your image is square or vertical, use a smaller width. When you compress, try to keep the file under 25k.

*NOTE: You can email your picture or provide the URL for one already on the internet and I will grab it. The pictures will be resized if necessary, so exact size isn't a problem. Your image may be cropped or manipulated to make it work best with the layout. Send only high quality JPEGs in case your picture needs to be edited. Make sure you have FULL DIGITAL RIGHTS to the picture you submit.

Musical background / influences / approach:
(Put your real name here if you wish - as well as a short bio, experience, favorite bands and/or philosophy. Let's keep it to one or two paragraphs max, written in 3rd person.)

Song details:
(Here's where you explain what the song means and how it was recorded - two paragraphs max.)

Lyrics:
(The lyrics of your submission, if any)

Contact:
(1 URL, 1 email)

Plus, I think we should wait for Kovacs to get back and PM the FTP info to me. I don't want to do anything behind his back. Does anyone know if there are any scripts or server-side functions being used on the page as-is? or is all the updating being done manually?

I've written mine with a lot of PHP for includes and stuff. Kovacs seems to be using Cold Fusion for some things (Hypography) and PHP for others (Scienceforums) so I hope that's not a problem.

There are a few other things I need to finish too: The main artist page that will have the interactive map, and I probably need to add the banner link info somewhere (Press? Status?). Receipts from charitable organizations can definitely go under Status as well as updates as to when the CD, T-shirts and other merchandise will be ready.

I'll help edit bios too. I think it's important to have a certain level of polish and consistency throughout them as well as anything else that becomes part of the project. It's important to take it somewhat seriously if you want anyone else to. And this is a serious endeavor. That said, I'm all for humor and idiosyncrasy as long it doesn't detract from the whole.

Not trying to be a fascist pig. I just have a lot of experience herding creative people and I know how these things can devolve if the collective commitment isn't there. Even if you get all your ducks in a row, there's not guarantee of success with the public. But if you don't give it a decent amount of spit-n-shine, most won't even bother to notice.

I say focus the substance of the message and aim high but be prepared for the worst. Aim unfocused and expect less.

I'll shut up and get back to working behind the scenes. :D

So if I send you a rough draft you'll polish it for me? :D As you can probably tell writing was not a strong point for me in school...;)

Do your best and I'll do the rest. I try to be discreet, respectful and honest. You can always ask me to change something after you see it online. Everyone else has... :hihi:
