Anyone knows how to stop Nero from scanning for VST and DX?

I have Nero 6. Every time I try to make an audio CD with it or load Nero's audio editor or that SoundTrax program (I don't use it but the problem is there too) Nero loads its audio playback component and then immediately starts to scan my system for VST and DX plugins.

I have dozens of plugins and one or more of them crash Nero and the scanning freezes my system so that I have to power down and restart.

I've tried renaming my VST plugins folder but Nero still scans at least DX plugins (getting file names from the registry I suppose) and it freezes again while the scan is in progress.

I have not found any option in Nero to make it stop doing this. I don't understand why programmers have to make this difficult - do they ever run their own programs? Is there any reason to make this scan mandatory without giving the user an option to do this in the first place?

I've been looking for some ini file or something I can delete or rename so at least the burning part of Nero will not start scanning for plugins when I try to make an audio CD. When I get the tracks together for an audio CD as soon as I click on one track before burning, Nero tries to play the track and in turn it loads its audio component that scans for VST & DX, etc, etc.

The Nero tech support person (aka drone) that responded to my email is asking for a screenshot of the problem, meaning I'm not dealing with someone with a functional brain.

Any help with this will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
