It is my opinion that the best idea is to have a clear plan of what the product will be used for and then go for it.
Personally I would like to see a product tailored for spontaneous creativity. (Tablet PC might be nice with a big screen plus a decent midi controller)
(Mad brain dump of ideas to follow: Chord sequencer; 3D audio; Style library of clips e.g. reggae, bossanova; Ripple edits; Video synthesiser (video file or feed provides controller information, luminance hue etc); DJ tools; Visual feedback; Beatbox or vocal analyser converts mic input into midi sequence; Coloured waveforms, red=bassy blue=trebley!; Infinite loop recording; Harmony tools; Algorythmic midi generators; Lyric sequencer type track; Scale mode on piano roll - only allows notes that fit into scale; Non-western scales, song structures; Chord progression library; Overdub loop track which simultaneously records onto a separate time-line track; one handed operation; Minimal pop up windows;
As an analogy:
Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter are both image manipulation/creation programs with a great deal of overlap but there are clear boundarys and different underlying philosophies.

Not a subject for joking, Zerotonin. Makes us all look bad here. Perhaps you should edit your response, please????

You don't deserve a response seratonin, but I will stoop to your level, hopefully without being insulting, which you are obviously not above. I am not on crack. What concerns me is that a 3rd person who might be on crack might read your post and decide that your wacky idea makes sense, somehow, in some delusional way. I know that your intent was to be funny but others might not take it that way.
By the way, I have had some of my posts completely deleted for saying something something as silly as, "My girlfriend can beatup your girlfriend," in response to a forgotten person's signature. And I was just being stupid and silly, but there you have it!!
Go figure.
Let's don't turn this into a flamin' flame fest. It's all about the tunes, dude, it's all about the tunes.

here's the thing though: nobody knows who the guy is except for jo, so there really isn't any danger.
i have never in my life had anyone suggest such a thing in response to a "joke" (it wasn't really a joke, actually, but i will play)
it's not like i can't possibly imagine such a thing happening, but a) i am not particularly adverse to such an incident, and b) the chances are so small as to be mathmatically insignificant.
anyway, i don't mean to sound like i am flaming, if that's how it sounds. And i am very pleased to hear that you are not on crack, it is a terrible drug.

Apology accepted, (I think you are, anyway, am I right?)
Moving on, I'll try out your Arpe2600VA whatever the name is tonight. Peace out, Bro.

How about adding some ability akin to Tera's sequencer... where the user can generate multiple sequences and drag them into a grid for playing or drag-n-drop patterns on the fly. Something like that with Muzys' Playroom would be very cool... all integrated with a Muzynth type sound-generating system would be bitchin.
{edit}if, for instance, a Muzynth type synth will be included it would be cool to create a tabbed interface for it (something akin to Sytrus). Muzynth is powerful but the dialog boxes aren't the greatest workflow. {/edit}
