Who's heard the AFX Analord stuff? What do you think of it?

Just got to listen to it all a few days ago, I think its great, loving it. I think he's back on form judging from this stuff, it seems more inspired than the Druqks stuff. Seems more personal than the Richard d James and Druqks albums, which seemed too much experimenting and not enough substance (in general) for me.
Hope his future releases are as good, was thinking he was past his best, maybe not!

I like these personally. I like the old-school IDM where it was still ok to have a danceable beat and a lot of acid sounds.

Gotta be honest, Drukqs is my favourite album by Aphex.

TBH, the stuff I've heard has seemed a bit boring to me. I can live with less experimental rhythms/structures I guess, but these just struck me as the equivalent of a stadium rock band reunion album for the aging techno set.

Two caveats: My favourite Aphex stuff is the Richard D. James album (like lots of the earlier stuff, too) and I generally abhor nostalgia.

I still like the Richard D James album the best I think. Selected Ambient Works too.

I can understand what you say in regards to the sounds used, but musically , I thought the Analord stuff is not really based on nostalgia (though the tracks that are less than inspired do seem that way), but theres plenty of good tracks in there.
Also the technique seems natural and not forced in these latest records, its more of a means to an end rather than an end in itself, which I thought was the case on the Drukqs album.
But each to their own.

I rather love it. I'm a sucker for oldsk00l acid/electro/techno, so I guess I'm easily won over by stuff like this, but in spite of the old gear and aesthetic I do think it's a rather fresh approach.
I have 1 tm 7 and 10, and I think there are maybe two tracks I don't like as much as the rest.

I don't think he's rehashing his early 90s stuff to be honest, it's very much todays Aphex Twin/AFX in action.
Also, I don't think he's ever been out of form (much). I quite like his later stuff.
Pop music delenda est.
