Okay, KVRians. We've been working on Studiophonik for a really long time and it is getting close to being what we really want it to be. (the ultimate virtual band). I am trying to think if there is a guitar, bass or drum that we missed that it MUST have before we wrap it all up. Any requests? Even if we don't get it in at release we may add it later so go ahead. What are your favorite guitar makes? Basses? Drums? This thing is WIDE!!!!! I mean, a producer's DREAM come true. I am going BALLISTIC using it on tunes right now and I am producing an entire rock album using that as my "band" and ST, SS2 and Philharmonik as my swiss army knife sample tool, synth and orchestra (respectively). I am also using AmpliTube 2 and my Danelectro convertible acoustic/electric and a 1949 Fender Broadcaster. Having fun!!!! I have written more music in the last 6-8 months because of all this stuff then I have in a really long time.
Anyway, that's just me being excited. I won't tell you yet what we have (although there is a LOT and I will only tell you one really cool one which is the Jimmy Page double neck 6 string/ 12string SG!!!). But, what do you want to see out of curiosity? Maybe we already have it or maybe we'll add it down the line.

Squids, do you have something like Terry Bozzio's kit from the Bozzio, Levin, Stevens sessions? I am sure a lot of people will love it.

What kit was it? Do you know? You know my Bozzio story right? That's one of my better ones. Actually, I met him at Steve Steven's house. Lyle Workman brought me over there for dinner once and I walk in 2 minutes after Stevens and Bozzio watched a video of me playing the Lamb with Kevin Gilbert. So, the first time I met Bozzio he was actually complimenting me! That was a twist. I would have normally been feeling weird about talking about how awesome he is and here it was the other way around. That was an awesome muso moment (even if it really means nothing).progfusion74 wrote:Squids, do you have something like Terry Bozzio's kit from the Bozzio, Levin, Stevens sessions? Anyway, rest assured we have things like a Stewart Copeland Tama even with Octabons, several Jon Bonham kits with massive rooms, Phil Collins Grestch kits and Bruford kits (even with the big floppy rotos)... but any other requests?
Also when it comes to guitars, what you guys think of these brands/makes out of curiosity:
Shecter?
Ibanez
Kramer (Van Halen)
Jackson (Randy Rhoads?)
BC Rich
Fender Jaguar
Tom Anderson
PRS
Rickenbacker 6 string
Steinberger
Gibson ES175
Gibson Firebird
Silvertone
Jerry Jones
Parker
Brian Moore
Any comments on them? Any guitar players use them that you like? This could be a fun thread if you want to participate. Thanks.

Squids,
I had a Jaguar that I loved...it was an awesome axe...played like a strat and sounded like a cross between a strat and a tele...
Friend of mine had a double neck Ibanez that he could rock the house with...

Here's my guitar wishlist:
Gibson ES330
Rickenbacker 330 (6 string)
Rickenbacker 336 (12 string)
Fender Jaguar
Gibson "Black Beauty" Les Paul
Fender Thinline Telecaster
I'd try and get as many different pickup positions sampled as possible with these. And add one of those 7 string deals in for the metal kids.
Basses:
Fender P-Bass
Fender Jazz Bass
Musicman Stingray
Round strings and make sure they're pretty bright. It's easier to remove the high end when mixing than it is to add it.
BTW Squids, the Edge uses a Firebird fairly often. As far as I'm concerned though, those things are like Flying V's. I wouldn't care if they sounded good, they're just so damn ugly I could never play them in front of other people.

I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

I'd like to see you include that Hamer with 5 necks that Rick Nielson used to play.
On a somewhat more serious note, I would like to see at least one hollow-body guitar (like an ES-175) and at least one semi-hollowbody guitar (like an ES-347, ES-335, or a Country Gentleman).
A pedal-steel would be cool as well for those times you want to emulate Steve Howe or Edge.
A PRS guitar would be nice also.
As for bass, I'm sure you'll include a Rickenbacker. I'd also like to see several nice fretless basses.

I can't recall, but its probably his monster tuned kit (the one with the tuned toms and so on), or at least an early version. He does play a lot of melody lines on the albums.Squids wrote:What kit was it? Do you know? You know my Bozzio story right? That's one of my better ones. Actually, I met him at Steve Steven's house. My favourite guitarists are Steve Morse and John Petrucci, so it would be good to have Musicman guitar samples included. Also, I'd like to have a seven string guitar and a six string bass, as there's not much libraries with those (if any).

Good suggestions. Some of those we have and some we don't. But, we may add them. Keep the requests coming. This is your chance!

From the bass perspective, I would love to have a good sample of Chris Squire's old Rick 4001. Some of Lemmy's early Rick sounds would be good too.
Some overdriven bass sounds like Jack Bruce's EBO, or Bob Daisley sound on Believer would be cool.
A better sample of the Jaco sound. What samples I've heard, I thought the sustain was off.
Somthing different from the run of the mill bass samples I've heard.
I did think the Beatle Bass sample was cool.

Hi there!
I've just seen a tutorial video of Spectrasonics "Trilogy" bass module.
It has this very nice feature called "true staccato" which is a special mapping of the samples across the keyboard. On the lower notes they have the sustained sounds and on the upper half the staccato samples.
So you can play with both hands and create very realistic bass lines.
This would also be a great feature for upcoming SR products like Studiophonik.
I would really appreciate such a true staccato mapping in Studiophonik or any other SR product.
Squids, what do you think about that?
Best regards
Ahh...here my favorites
Bass :Yamaha BB 3000
Guitar: Parker Fly
Drums: I like the drum sound of Steve Smith a lot...

For hard rock and metal my Ibanez SRX705 is great. It has a bright, modern sound that sits very well in a mix with distorted guitars. The only problem I can see with it is that most of them have a bit of rattle, but I like it. I think it lends an aggressive air to it, though I'm not sure how that would go over in a sample library.
By the way Squids, I have a question. Will Studiophinik have fingered, slaped and picked variations on all of the basses?

Excuse all the blood.
