@mn: I'll get that dBu info for you when I get home, I don't have the list here at work.

BTW, am I still excluded from the drawings now that I don't administer them anymore...?

 I dunno, you guys tell me. Hasn't been an issue yet (though my name did come up while I was drawing), but I don't want to be accused of giving prizes to ourselves.

Is UTM taking over drawings once his site goes up? I could use a break, I was kind of assuming I was helping through your few days of medical necessity, and that first week was my vacation.

In a way, it's kind of my *fault* since I first brought it up.

In the beginning, there was light... (ssssslap  )
...there was a decision between Freezey, Kovacs and I that, since we were all heavily involved in contacting devs, arranging prizes, formulating the drawing rules and choosing winners, we DQ'd ourselves -- for obvious reasons.

That said, since Kovacs is not an official prize drawer anymore, I guess he can be eligible. However, I'll stay out and I reckon it's really up to everyone to decide for themselves if there *could* be the possibility that some people would become suspicious of them should they 'win' a prize.

;)

@mn: Good question. I never meant to push it on you entirely. If someone else can help us out with the prize draws that would be good.

It's really not a big issue for me. If the other peeps in general think I should be ineligible I will accept that!

As for my role from now on I would like to concentrate on handling the incoming payments and making sure we channel the money to the right places (ie, pay for CDs, distribution of preorders, then make payments to charities etc).

I will continue to send order information to whoever will be in charge of prize drawings and site updates.

Oh, and I need to know who has more Resonance CDs since there is a long list of people who have ordered since I last sent a list to Vurt. I never heard back from him about it so I just assume they were all shipped out.

The cost of shipping the Resonance CDs must be covered by our general funds unless someone is willing to cover it. xRAVENx paid a lot for shipping and hasn't asked for a refund. I think Vurt is in the same situation.

Well, I disqualify myself either way, wether I'm drawing or not. Fortunately I already own most of what's left to draw anyway.

I think you should be eligible Tormod. :)

Let me elucidate my thoughts a bit better:

I have only ordered two CDs so far, but some of the team, like Tormod, have ordered many times that.

I've been a big public face for this thing, so I'd feel uncomfortable winning a prize anyway.

The whole purpose of the prizes is not so much to reward people for preordering, but to attract more orders for the CD and to help pay for it's production -- a worthy effort. I don't need any incentive -- I just need more money so I can buy more CDs!

It would kinda be the same feeling as if I sent my two year old kid to work in the coal mines and he gave me his paycheck... er sumpthin... :hihi:

It's been pretty weird to announce these amazing prizes and see them go out knowing I can't win one -- most of which I'd shave a nut for in any other circumstance.

The BIG win for me personally though is to see this amazing music CD published and out there making money for the hurricane victims -- a way happy deal for me for many years to come, kinda like a 'mantlepiece'. ;)

Are there any plans for a Pakistan Earthquake relief CD?

Post

Unfortunately the worthy causes are coming fast and furious at the moment. Remove the two hurricanes from the equation, and I think KVR would have been all over the earthquake.

In the sense that our donation will be behind the curve of "immediate needs", our donations that go to the Red Cross will no doubt help those in Pakistan, too.

It's occurred to me over the last few weeks (and to some degree during the Tsunami late last year) that it's very difficult to get a project such as this done in a timely manner to where it feels like you're actually addressing what you set out to address.

IMO, it would be nice if we could somehow keep an ongoing series of CD's going. Everyone sort of keep a few tracks in the "for charity" pile, work on putting the track list together and mastering on an ongoing basis, maybe get a working relationshop going with a replicator, and then when something happens, we just need to define a tracklist, do the artwork, and send it off. My thoughts, anyway. It definitely would have helped the quality of my track, I did mine in less than a week and it shows, or sounds. :hihi:

I'd say go ahead and start organizing one. Each project takes up a lot of time and it is difficult for the managers of each CD to get involved with more than one.

That is of course just my own opinion...

:) well if i manage to win GURU (by any crackers stretch of imagination!) i'll put cameleon5000 back up for drawing, because i don't use really use it yet, whereas i would use GURU non stop :D

of course i'd like to keep cameleon if i don't win... i'm sure i'd use it eventually! :hihi:

[if the guru winner wants to do a swap that's fine by me too ;)]
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

mn,

I'm with you on this. I've been having similar thoughts over the last few weeks as well. In fact, I've mulled over the idea of forming some kind of a coalition of artists, KVR and others, that would be willing to donate music to an on-going relief effort.

There are natural and political disasters across the globe that need financial aid. What better way to assist than to lend one's art to the cause?

Perhaps it might be appropriate to contact some of the recipient organizations and ask if they think this might be something one of them could manage - they have better marketing skills than I, that's for sure.

There are so many worthy organizations that hang their butts out on the line each and every day - I'd love to see the spirit of the Chrysalid effort live on to help these other organizations.

Who here has any experience forming a non-profit NGO? It's almost as if this would require it.
