Hello,
as i cannot use my UAD1 card with my laptop (i don't feel like shelling out big money for a magma) i would like to know what would be a good native/VST alternative for the UAD's 1176 compressor? I especially value it's simple and clean user-interface where i can reach very quickly good sounding results

all are based on the same fantastic code...

No clones, but the best compressors available in that thread.olafmol wrote:tnx for the link, i read through the 17 pages in it, but i cannot find a native alternative for the ease and sound of the 1176 in it?

sorry - the Kjaerhus Compressors are very good (and i use GCO a lot) - but the sound is nothing like the 1176
if u use this after GCO u can get a nice warm sound

but not the qualtiy of the 1176

i am really looking for something to reproduce the characteristic ease of use and sound of the 1176 in my laptop-based projects. "best" is imho a very subjective term...RapRogue wrote:No clones, but the best compressors available in that thread.olafmol wrote:tnx for the link, i read through the 17 pages in it, but i cannot find a native alternative for the ease and sound of the 1176 in it?
it seems that right now kjarhus has the best option, as the voxengo crunchessor is more transparant than the 1176?

Well, I'd try them and see! They're all analog-inspired. I'd say the closest I've found is BuzComp CL BCL201. I use the old beta version of this plug all the time, and my brother (studio engineer) said it really reminded him of the 1176 - big dials and all.olafmol wrote:so which of these can be compared to the UAD 1176?bduffy wrote:Oh, you gotta try these puppies too:

you post an example of what unique sound the 1176 can achieve and also post the dry sample and I try to match it - deal?
