Does anyone know for sure if Sonar5 works on windows 2000 ?

The posted "minimum requirements" are windows XP; yet, I think Sonar4 was also listed as requiring winXP and the demo runs fine on my win2K system.

It should run, but AFAIK it is not officially supported.

Could someone confirm the minimum OS requirements for sonar 4 ?

Quick check of the system requirements on their website at http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/sonar/ ... system.asp brings up the following:

"SONAR 5 does not support Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, or 2000."

Yes, I know what is says. My question is whether it works, not whether it is officially supported.

Several people on the Cakewalk Sonar forum have reported Sonar 5 running on Win2K with no problems - one person even commented that it seemed more stable on Win2K than Sonar 4. I haven't tried it myself yet, but I will (my laptop DAW is XP, but my plugin development workstation is still Win2K).

Oh, that is such excellent news.

Upgrading Sonar seems a reasonable thing to do. But upping the OS, on an aging computer, would serve little value.

I´m Using Sonar4 on W2k. Works fine...
