It's taken us a LONG time, but at last there's a new 'general' smartelectronix newsletter...
Below you'll find all the members of smartelectronix with their newest releases and plans.
There's a lot of new software and it's all for free, so make sure you read every bit.
If you wish to reply to all the members at once, post a message here, but if you have questions for an individual member, please send it to the address you see listed for that member.
have fun, make music
warmest regards for 2003,

Smartelectronix :: Destroy Fx :: Marc

destroyfx[AT]smartelectronix[DOT]com
All of our effects are now available as Audio Units. At this point,
everything is finished except for graphics, which we are currently working
on. In fact, Transverb already has some. You can find all of the AU
versions at:
http://destroyfx.org/audiounits.html
(warning: techy stuff follows) In order to support 2 plugin APIs, we
decided to implement our own sort of "meta API" which we call DfxPlugin.
Aside from the benefit of letting us support AU and VST at the same time
with little extra work, it also makes it a lot easier for us to write new
plugins from scratch. So in general this will mean that we can pump out
our ideas more quickly, but in the meantime, it's kind of slowed us down
for a little while because first we needed to write the base plugin stuff
and now we need to also write our own graphics library for DfxPlugin. The
base DfxPlugin stuff is completely done, so now we're just working on the
graphics part.

Tom of DFX is working on several new secret projects (so secret he can
only reveal some names: DFX FIREFLY, DFX GRAVITY, DFX BROKEBEAT) and of
course on his flagship noise machine, DFX BROKENFFT. He's also maintaining
the Windows side of things for the new cross-standard (audiounit/vst/?)
"dfxplugin" mechanism. And in response to popular demand, Geometer has
been updated to process in stereo.

Smartelectronix :: Bram

A few new FX...
Bouncy, the bouncing ball delay. Now YOU can bounce like an Aphex Twin.
A new PC version of Bouncy has been put on the site, it now "syncs" to tempo.
Mac version will arrive a bit later.
Crazy Ivan at last made it to VST-level / AudioUnits.
The mac OS-9 version WAS buggy, but we found the bug and there's a new (MAC) version online!!
Some funkie mp3 examples of Ivan-abuse by Otto Von Schirach, Dino Felipe and Mochipet can be
found on the site.
Together with http://www.tobybear.de Bram created the MadShifta.
A delay with pitch-shifter in the feedback loop.
Marc translated to audiounits and generaly mac-i-fied it.
Making free plugins is fun, but getting something in return is even cooler
Please consider making a donation at:

Have fun. More to come...

Scrubber is currently undergoing a radical rewrite to fill an empty niche in
the world of VST. The assorted midi plugins are also being rewritten to
function in as many different hosts as possible. Unfortunately, due to a
lack of spare time the progress is slow, but sure.

Smartelectronix :: Andreas
http://www.smartelectronix.com/~andreas/
andreas[AT]smartelectronix[DOT]com
Andreas is currently working on various 'buffer-mangler-slice-reorder'
plugins, and also a loop-sampler instrument/effect. Beta versions available at
smartelectronix.com!
----
Smartelectronix :: Magnus
http://www.smartelectronix.com/~magnus/
magnus[AT]smartelectronix[DOT]com
Although Magnus has been a bit of a background figure in smartelectronix, he feels
it's now time to release a new FX called Ambience. It is a high quality reverb
built on a novel algorithm. To the user it appears just like a normal reverb,
except there are some nice goodies like the gater. Magnus has worked on it for
over two years! He was first going to go commercial with this one, but after some
reconsideration he decided to release it for free.
This does not mean that donations are not appreciated!!
Expect a mac version and a GUI in the near future.
