Can midi channel be assigned to clips rather than tracks a la Tracktion?
I really need a host other than Tracktion with this ability.

You can click on a clip to hilight it and then enter a channel number in the inspector to change the selected events.
I don't think there's a "property" per se, though.

Or, you could put the clips on separate tracks and then put those tracks in a folder. Probably ok when dealing with a few clips. Maybe not so great for a large amount.
(As noted above, the midi channel is not listed as a specific property for clips.)

And, of course, you can assign a midi channel to each note in a clip in the Piano Roll editor. So you can, for example, draw notes in one clip using channel 1 and draw notes in another clip using channel 2 (or use multiple channels in one clip -- I do that all the time). I guess, that's pretty close to what you need.
