Anyone know of a good jazz combo sample library?
I basically just want to put some little "band in a box" swing/latin combo type stuff on fire.
Or any thoughts about this...?
thanks

Garritan jazz comes to mind. Seems pretty great for that kinda stuff.
Might be a bit expensive for runnning BIAB styles through it though.

The Edirol Super Quartet is pretty good. It's only guitar/bass/drums, but has good sounds, I use it with Band in a Box to make myself accompanyment CDs. The mapping is set up great, all I do is export the midi file, and load it into Acid with Super Quartet, and all the sounds etc are mapped correctly. It takes like 3 minutes once your used to it.

I think Big Fish Audio has a few jazz combo sample collections. Keep in mind that they're riffs and not multisampled though, as far as I know.

Band in a box is not a vsti, it's a standalone program. You can export midi files though, and I hear the newer version of Band in a Box will let you run a DXI synth in it. I don't have it to confirm that though. . .

you can already since two years.will let you run a DXI synth in it
Even if i use BIAB just to work/learn songs and sightreading i like to have a good sound out...
I don't own Garritan Jazz but it looks good...
another may be the new NI Bandstand
Here's an extract of a post i did on the BIAB forum

from what i have Sampletank does the best job now but you have to know that program change doesn't respond well...

Thanks for the all the advice.
The Garritan jazz sounds awesome!
Faster computer + reason + band in a box + nice sample library + me and some horns = great way to make music without making friends!
It's kind of ironic - music is all about people and interacting with people. And why don't I like to practice? Oh that's right, 'cause it's such a lonely, solitary thing.
So what do I do? Play with the computer. Between this and podcasts, I am pretty happy on my own.
