Has your gear addiction led you to financial trouble?

Never. I only buy whatever I can, whenever I can, always after paying bills and food.

Naaah. I just use my credit card to purchase gear and pay for it in a month or two.

Only get what I can afford generally, only ever buy stuff I can pay off in a month, though I do go without other things some months to fund a vst. I dont spend much on going out, or clothes, dont drink much, dont smoke, or have kids etc etc.
Computer setups are fairly affordable, especially as I put my DAW together myself, so there isnt a great deal of cost involved really.
You can get a lot for your money with a computer setup, software is good value compared to the hardware. I also take advantage of groupbuys and special offers so the money goes even further.

Of course the fact that its all cheaper makes you tempted to buy more of it, I am guilty of that.

A friend of mine at work got himself into something like $40,000 of debt buying music gear in the 80's. He's almost paid it off.
i worked at a software startup where the co-founders went $320,000 in debt on many, many credit cards to get their business off the ground. then they got venture capital and ended up selling off their interests to the investors about 6 years later, just happy to finally be out of debt.

meanwhile my friend in the Bay Area uses his vintage guitar collection to get him over rough spots and gets them out of hock in fatter times. he has a friendly luthier who'll rework some and hold them till the work can be paid for if he's too worried that he might be tempted to sell them off.

i think i'd be be pushing it, given cureent finanaces if i went for Komplete 3. and i've been tempted for months to get Trigger Finger, but have held off. i'm sticking with soft synths and fx in about the <= $50 range
