That's one possible way of doing business. It's also possible that they're taking a different route. Business is about making money and that means anything goes to achieve that end. If a company can successfully artificially inflate the perceived value of their products, then why on Earth would they not? These audio software companies are no different. I'm not saying that this particular company or any other company is definately doing this, but I'd be surprised if they're not. When I look around I constantly see "gold" packages, "diamond" bundles, and "platinum" series. I see very high prices on audio software. And I know that some people naturally will respond to all of this by wondering if there really is something special about this product. Others will outright assume that there definately is something great about this product because of the inflated price. Others need the inflated price to help support their inflated egos. It would surprise me if a company with expensive products comparatively speaking, wasn't aware of this and wasn't taking advantage of this, or at least trying to.jackson wrote:Funkybot wrote:They didn't just pull the $1500 or whatever out of thin air. They're a business, and their pricing reflects the value they honestly believe their product is worth based on financial analysis and forecasts.Mike

You are absolutely right here. The branding and GFX are key to the success and imagined quality of these plugins. They are good sure, but then so are a great deal of other plugs that don't get the same respect, or demand the same kind of price.Funkybot wrote:I'm convinced that if you put Posifopit under a Neve a like GUI or the Kjaerhus GEQ-7 under a Pultec GUI, people would be willing to pay a lot more money for them, and they'd get a lot more respect.

some of the plugins I used on my cd that you like are free or low cost.
I can warmly suggest to try Posihfopit, TL's stuff and Xhip. All free, all top notch. There's more available as freeware than poor SE plugins (Not all are poor, BTW. Just before anybody gets this wrong).
All the best, FRitz
In the end will be the word.
